I've just been running round the garden screaming at the top of my voice...........

Imagine a lovely summer evening. I think to myself get yourself a glass of wine Cazi & sit on the bench with the dog & enjoy, . Now apart from the kids over the back bouncing on their trampoline all is peaceful & quiet............ but then wait, what do I see out of the corner of my eye. A B52 bomber heading my way  :o, it hovers for a while but by this time I have jumped up, oh it's ok it's leaving my garden, err no the B52 bomber is heading right for my face. I jump up again but it follwos me & I start screaming & run in doors. I call out to hubby HELP. He comes out & says it's only a stag beetle, only it's huge. It then starts to come at the door (which is closed but then I remember the window is open so close that as soon as I can get to it.

I know they are "beautiful" creatures but it's the hovering & dive bombing I don't like.

I shall now venture outside & rescue my glass of wine but maybe drink it inside.

Love Cazi.

So you are inside with the beetle looking in, or outside wondering where in the house it might be?

No I'm inside, knowing it has gone away CLKD, you naughty girl trying to worry me like that - mind you I keep thinking there is something crawling up my leg & have to check. It's really made me jumpy & I could well do without that feeling at the moment.

I am about to become a Godmother to a bluebird family.  The mother has been so wonderful and the father has been quite adequate in coming to the box to feed the babies.  It is so hot that I have misted the box three times today.  But this morning the mom was at the opening and just yelled and yelled like she was pretty d*** mad.  Finally the make came back and she left for awhile.  I can hardly wait to see the kids - if I'm lucky enough to see them leave the bluebird box.  I can lie in bed and watch the activity for hours.  The babies from another group were all fed my fruit and nut mix but the new little ones are only fed worms, I think.  Ah the maternal instinct.

I wish I knew what she was screaming about.  No predators nearby so I was concerned and confused.

More likely that he was overdue for his shift and she'd had enough!

My dog is "Squirrel-obsessive" and the past two days a little squirrel has decided to sit on our bedroom window sill.  His little body is like two inches from the end of her nose.  She is beside herself, but instead of barking, she sits and stares in total disbelief (she told me that).  Trying to save the feed for my bluebirds and cardinals and fighting the squirrels is tiresome.  Have one Droll Yankees squirrel proof feeder that has a feeding tray that only holds a limited amount of weight.  Daddy bluebird is working his tail off feeding the babies (haven't seen them yet).

The gulf wildlife are suffering terribly.  We got our Audubon magazine today and the cover had the feature story about the comeback from near extinction of some of the Gulf birds ------ obviously went to print before the spill.  I cannot believe how $ runs governmental oversight departments.  This should never have happened if the gov't had enforced their inspections and not given permits in five minutes time.  Sorry, but my eyes and throat have been affected by the toxic air (depending on wind) and I'm ticked.

Love the story about your dog ............ biding her time  ;)

As for the oil spill, as with supermarket shopping humans got drawn in to what seemed a 'good' idea at the time.  Accidents happen.  Live with it.  The powers that be should spend the energy not on 'what ifs' but on 'how tooos' ......... we've had press photos of pelicans covered in oil which made my heart lurch.

Some smells hang in the nose and oil is one of them  >:(
