I am fed up with bl**dy slugs & snails in my garden at night.
Last night I went to let the dog out for her late night pee, & felt something squeegee underfoot yuk... this was shortly followed by a crunch, yep snail!!
I'm also fed up with flies at night indoors.
OK rant over for now.

However butterflies are much more nice: Here is a link to a garden butterfly survey.

SPIDERS! HUGE as large as mice  :o

Himself put one outside - it filled a pint glass; this evening I had 3 in the bathroom; sister to the 1 last night, 2 smaller, all now roaming in the dark.  Thank goodness they don't wear bovver boots or we would never get any sleep  ;D

I haven't heard our Tawnies lately.

Raining so hopefully blackbirds/hedgehogs will be able to get worms up.  Feeders filled.  Heather plants and bilberries bushes enjoying the moisture.

Beautiful wild cats!

Our bird feeders are more or less deserted now. Robins singing winter territory songs - have been doing so for a couple of weeks or more.

Mine are still costing me a fortune in seed - especially the Goldfinches. Mind you they throw away as much as they eat. I've still got a flock of around thirty birds. They twitter so prettily. Well it sounds pretty but really I think they are fighting each other!!

Those cats are beautiful!

Haven't seen our gold-finches yet, I've grown teasels for the first time especially  ::) but as some of the plants are blown over! haven't been outdoors much today due to heavy rain !

I plan to move the teasels to the back of another border in the Spring.

Not many around here - however, anyone who keeps chickens can spend hours watching them chasing DLLs.  We have lots of starlings which tend to the lawns locally = eating the grubs!

Watching hornets building a nest of hexanolol cells ….. on The 1 Show - fascinating.  I haven't seen many hornets drinking from our pond this year, usually in March/April, we do see wasps several times a day.

Fieldfares have arrived - eating apples in our orchard! I love their chattering sound - always makes me think of autumn :)

They are in the fields around here but so far none in the garden. It usually has to be colder for them to visit the bird table. I love their call

I missed the flock of long-tailed tits yesterday  ::)

Not many birds here yet.  Living close to fields and woodland there's plenty of 'real' food around.  Would love to know where my hedgehog is, we don't sit out at this time of year  :D

Apparently there's a risk right now of wild birds spreading bird 'flu from the Continent.  Growers as well as pet chicken owners are being advised to keep their birds under cover, well those on the news at 1 are paying Lip Service - all their C.mas fowl are inside but not wired in so that starlings and sparrows can fly in and out  ::).  Fortunately we don't have chooks as we are not here to look after them …….

We had a goldfinch on the teasels as well as a pair of long-tailed tits on the fat balls today  :)
