Since 1st May 2020 I have been on a regime of 1 vagifem daily and 1 pump of oestrogel gel until end of August when I next have a consultation with the menopause clinic. Since day 4 of my new regime I have been burning and stinging on the outer vaginal area. My GP prescribed Timodene cream for 1 week, followed by Daktacort cream for 1 week, neither worked. (I do not have thrush.) I decided to return to using vagifem twice a week instead of daily and found the burning and stinging eased to a bearable level and is definitely better on days when I do not use the vagifem. I also use YES vaginal moisturiser on the outer vaginal area on a daily basis.
I even found it painful to sit or wear trousers due to the seam rubbing. (I used to be on a regime of just using vagifem twice a week which did not cause any burning or stinging, with the occasional increase in vagifem when needed due to dryness.
I am on this new regime with a view to being prescribed testosterone in the future.)
Has anyone else found that using both vagifem and oestrogel gel causes an overload to the outer vaginal area resulting in burning and stinging?
Does oestrogel gel alone ease vaginal dryness so I can stop vagifem?
