VA and vagifem
«

I've been using vagifem every other night for past 6 months under the advice from gynaecologist. All has been ?normal? for about 3 months then suddenly the symptoms have just returned. I wash only with water and also use multi-gyn actigel when needed and also Yes moisturiser. Is this normal and will it always keep coming back ?? Thought I had it under control !!

Go back to every night for 2 weeks. Some ladies need the occasional 2 inserts on the same night.
If you have a 'need to pee' sensation, you may find nurofen eases it!
It will be a nuisance occasionally as 'vagifem' is such a small amount of HRT.

Thanks for advice I will try every night for 2 weeks. Can vagifem be used every night permanently?

Hi Denise. Yes I use Vagifem daily but still get blips. Unfortunately being a chronic condition, you will get flare ups. As CLKD mentioned, do another 2 week reload. That should work unless you've got an infection. Good luck and keep us posted.

You may find that 'ovestin' the other VA treatment suits you better? Vagifem is such a low dose it often isn't enough to keep symptoms under control.

I think I have some Ovestin left so could give that a try. Thankyou both for your help. I just hope it goes away again soon.

Although I don't wish this on anyone but it helps knowing I'm not alone with these horrible symptoms, and that I can up the dose as necessary. Need to get my head round that even though I'm not altering my routine it's still going to keep causing problems now and again.

It's about replacing oestrogen where the vagina is dry, plumping up the walls. Some ladies find 'yes' or 'sylc' on the outer areas stops dryness = itchiness.
