Scared to start new meds

So sorry to bother with this but I had telephone appointment today ref my swap from patches to femiston, due to shortage of patches. I spoke to the nurse at the docs surgery who I find to be quite empathetic and she's around same age so I hope understands etc
Explained my mood drop since the swap from patches to femiston with hardly any up days mostly just down all the time , now on month 3.
She suggested the femiston were not the same strength as the patches and that maybe a reason. She also suggested a swap to gel and a tablet combi.
I wanted to ask had anyone swapped or experience of this and what this will feel like as I'm so scared to sink into a darker place than I am.
I have picked up my prescription this afternoon. Could anyone please advice how I take and what may happen. I am swapping from femiston 1/10 to oestrodose gel ( but it but has no amounts on it - I think the nurse said one and half pumps a day for 2 weeks) along with utrogestan caps 100mg 2 be taken each day for 2 weeks after the gel.
I don't know what to take first or when to swap I'm just so scared of the results. Should I just stop femiston and start new presc?
I've tried to search best course but tbh find I baffling.
Anyone swapped or can advise would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance

I'm really sorry, I don't have any answers and I'm not on HRT, but I do feel you are being very let down here.
Surely if swapping, the GP or nurse, should ensure you are given the correct dose to match your original patches. I think I would call back and ask to speak to a GP about this. It's not acceptable to leave you wondering on dose.
Good luck x

changes can be scary, even when we want them

I always worried about beginning new meds in case they made me feel worse
Why not ring a Pharmacist? have the product to hand and ask the question? Or read the leaflet in the box, might be helpful advice in there. Why don't medics/Nurses be up2date with how this all works

Gosh! Thank u do much for making the effort to reply. I feel like such a drain asking what are probabaly simple questions. Being the only female in the house means I resorted to this forum for help!
Some people on here have asked where I am in the MP cycle? How do I know where I am in the cycle? Is there a test, a graph? I'm 51 still having monthly periods. Just heavier or lighter than before. And less days.
So altho I have the gel.and tablets I took my usual 1/10 femiston today. I feel so afraid to change to the gel.and tablets which I know may sound rather ridiculous but I just don't want to sink lower in my mood ( for my children's husband's and my sales).
I am building up to trying the gel as off tomorrow, so am I correct to squirt it on my fingers then rub into my thigh? Should I alternate thighs? I know it's one and half pumps to begin each day. Then after 14 days I swap to the 2 pills a day for 14 days.
And just stop the femiston. Will this mess up my cycle just starting a new regime. Or will my periods just continue as normal?
What a mess!
