Question about Evorel Sequi
« on: April 29, 2020, 01:17:46 AM »

Hi everyone

My Evorel Sequi patch fell off a day early, on Saturday.  It was due to be changed on Sunday, so I just put on a new patch.  So, it's due to be changed on Thursday normally, but because it went on a day early, I'm assuming I should change it on Wednesday.

This is the estradiol patch, I think I have one more Estradiol and then I move back onto the combination patch for the second half of the month.  Obviously I'm going to 'lose' a day because I cannot stretch the patches over an extra day to make up for the one that come off.

I'll read the info carefully in the morning as it's late here, but does anyone know, is it a case of just losing that day and putting on the combination patch a day early?  I can't see any other way to do it unless I 'stretch' an estradiol patch to make it last longer, but I doubt that would work and might just throw me into having symptoms.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

I don't think you'd get enough from a patch by day 5 so changing a day early looks like your best option. The only other option would be a new patch for a day which seems a bit of a waste. Maybe use the next 2 patches for 4 days each so your back to the normal routine?

Thanks, that's logical.  I'm keeping each one on for 4 days.

Do you find that  4  day change is OK? I used to do 3 days then 4 days when i first started,. Then I changed to 3.5 days because I felt 4 days was too long. Now I change every 3 days which I think is ideal, for me that is!

Hurdity, I've wondered a couple of times whether my body is a bit stressed on Day 4, but only a couple of times, other times I don't notice it...

My body is generally stressed this week and not sure what I've done wrong apart from introducing vagifem as I said before on another thread......but hoping it's not that.  I've stopped it daily now, I never got 14 days in, only about 11, but that's still something.  I will try having it twice a week and see how I get on with that as, like you said and a few others, it's probably not the vagifem anyway......but at least if I'm only doing it twice a week I'll know it's not that.  (it's probably that my patches got messed up, although that was 3 weeks ago now).

Ah well, sometimes we never know.

I've been sleeping excessively this week....and dreaming really vividly, it's very weird, I know a lot of people have mentioned that before but it's happening to me now.  I was ill for 4 weeks on and off but have been well for nearly 2 weeks now, so it's a bit odd that I'm sleeping so much.  I've had shingles before and this feels like that, but there's no spots or anything.....maybe it's post viral effects, but doesn't explain why I was fine for 2 weeks...

Like I say sometimes we never know.

Yes you're right. It's difficult to know sometimes why we feel how we feel and tempting to try to pin it down to one thing.

Incidentally Vagifem doesn't make me stressed but it does irritate my bladder on the day I use it (approx every 3 days) ie need to empty it more often.

I hope your body calms down soon!

Well I've had a 2 day break from vagifem and finally woke up feeling well this morning and got loads done today, but I think the vagifem is not the culprit.  I ended up with a sore throat and glands up, so I think I had a mild bug which was causing all the sleeping.

Now on the progesterone part of HRT patch, which seems to work even better for me than the first part, so hopefully I'll get into full on nesting mode now and get some organisation around here.  ;D

Another question, if your patch sticks well but there is a bit of a crease in it, and also about 5 mm at one end that is 'dry' and hasn't stuck down, would you take it off and put on another?

I think I'm being fussy lately because I've been ill and I was worried that how I felt was due to missing a patch for 2 days and I'm trying to avoid messing things up going foward.  But it's more likely I was just ill and there was only a bit of mess up in hormones.
