Joint aching how long did it last for you? Mood swings
« on: May 07, 2020, 07:15:17 PM »

I am 53 years old - had terrible flooding and was given Prostap to stop my periods 7 months ago.  The course of Prostap is for 3 months and then periods usually return, mine have not so I think this could be the end of periods for me.  I am having really bad joint aching. I take more Calcium and Magnesium and I think this helps a fraction.  I cannot take Glucosamine as I am allergic to shellfish.  I also walk for an hour a day as I have a one year old baby girl.  If you had joint aching can you tell me how long it lasts for? did it go after you reached the menopause?  Also, did mood swings also finish with the menopause or gradually reduce?

Was your baby 'natural' or hormonally assisted?

As oestrogen levels drop muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  Do you take over the counter pain relief?  Also the body may become dry: inside and out. Skin, deep in the ears, scalp, nostrils, vagina ........ HORMONES  >:(  ::)

Do you get out with the pram as regular brisk exercise helps the joints and lessens the chance of osteoporosis.  Is she toddling?

I have aches and pains since I stopped exercising.  I am my own worst enemy by not kneeling when doing up shoelaces etc..  My sciatic nerve soon complains.  So making sure that when dressing and lifting your toddler, be in the correct position.

I had my last period in 2001 and fortunately haven't had too many aches and pains.  I know what causes it so it's manageable.  Vaginal atrophy however and we have threads about that: do read. Make notes  ;)

Mood swings can be hormonal or due to the body being hungry.  Think of a baby who cries loudly when hungry?  Maybe check your over all diet and see if you need slow release foods, i.e. bananas, porridge .........

Hi there, my baby girl was hormonally assisted but very easy and I have had no issues energy wise etc she is a joy.  Thank you for your advice.  As soon as the lockdown lifts I am going to try swimming, I do walk for an hour a day with the pram and now she is walking and running I chase after her all day!
