Breast Screening
« on: April 18, 2020, 10:28:40 AM »

I've just read in the paper that routine mammograms have been put on hold during the COVID-19 outbreak. If you are concerned about anything, you should go to your GP and will be referred for a mammogram if necessary.  I'm due one soon, so l'm pleased l saw this. I would have wondered otherwise

The screening groups in my area are ringing patients to see if they are happy to go along.  They may suggest leaving it for 6 months if there are no problems expected.

Women should thoroughly check themselves regularly for any changes, although cysts can come and go regularly, this is normal as you age, cysts move around under the fingers, anything sinister is hard and doesn't move.

My friend is a radiographer involved in breast screening and she told me that they would only be seeing those with lumps etc. So do go to your GP if you pick anything up as you will still be sent to get checked.
