Constantly Shifting Emotions
« on: March 10, 2020, 10:09:36 PM »

First off, I want to say how great this site is! It is so good to know that there are other women going through similar experiences to my own.

My big challenge is dealing with rapidly changing moods. I can get so angry that I want to rip things apart, and I have no idea why. The strange thing is that I have NEVER been an angry person. I have crying jags that I just can't stop. Then, just when I think my life is over, I feel happy again. It is SOOOO hard living like this!

I am turning 52 this year, and I am in perimenopause. My cycles now range from 12 to 101 days! I am just hoping that they will stop soon, so that these rapid hormone fluctuations will, as well.

Can anyone else relate? Please share.

Sending hugs and support to all!

Oh gosh yes: murderous rage, crushing paranoia, exhaustion that totally floors me, the desire to hide from everyone and everything...

Yes, me too. I'm surprised my OH didn't divorce me, I was horrible. Have you considered hrt? Personal choice but it's certainly helped me.

Focus, I am so glad to hear that it isn't just me! I find that reassuring. Thank-you!

What sorts of things are you doing to cope with it all?

To be honest, I probably don't deal with it the best.

I've stopped talking about it to anyone. My friends don't want to know (they're all quite a lot younger than me).

I go running and I go to the gym.

We have a thread about anger too.

I can't cry due to the medication that I take.  A good cry would do me good.

Hello Bevey and welcome to the forum.

Mood swings have been my most persistent problem.  I was never a particularly emotional person before all this started so these highs and lows were, and still are, a bit of a shock.

I never found the correct HRT regime for me so I am taking a break to see if my hormones can balance naturally.

My middle aged male GP told me recently that it all does settle down eventually. I live in hope!

Wishing you well and keep posting.

Yes God I would love to have a good cry but find it hard to. Maybe yet another sympton of this hell.

Thanks, Kathleen. I just saw a new doctor today. She is a young woman who specializes in women's health, and she, too, said that all of these mood shifts will one day be a thing of the past. It was so reassuring to hear that!
