Oestrogen need

I am pretty sure I am at the stage of early post menopause. Only started HRT last August and hardly feeling any benefit. Was on conti but terrible anxiety and mood swings. Could go from panic to elation and back to panic in an hour. Am currently in my second month of gel and utro. Definitely utro part was worse but not much better only on the gel part. My question is because I didn't take HRT till so much later do I need more gel or less. First month I did two pumps and this month three pumps. Due to start the utro tomorrow and scared I will feel even month. I realise now i was having symptons for about 6 years but they got more intense since last summer when I really saw a change in my mental health health skin energy levels and changes down below.

You should use the least amount that controls your symptoms. You may need topical oestrogen too if you have va. It's worth trying any new hrt on a cycle rather than conti as usually if you have trouble it's with the progesterone phase. If the progestin you use doesn't agree with you you could try a different one. Oestrogen levels do take time to build up (3 months for maximum effect) so it's advisable to give it time and build up slowly. Because you started later your own levels will be less but a sudden increase can cause problems too.

I just feel like I am gonna suffer for ever. Got an appointment 1 June at Birmingham clinic but I cant see what they are going to suggest any different to what I am on. What I would give to be my old self or even for a good night's sleep and not waking up early with anxiety.

When you look at the symptons of too much they are the same as too little. It's just so complicated for some of us.

Maybe think about patches? I've never had any problems with getting the dose right and I've been on them for 13 years....women do absorb differently so perhaps these would be better for you, giving a more stable dose?
