Womb biopsy - felt very bad fatigue for 3 weeks after
« on: February 23, 2020, 08:37:23 PM »

Hi all,
I had a womb biopsy in February 2019 after a tiny amount of bleeding, biopsy was fine. At that time I was still on hrt but the hospital advised me to come off it as my lining was thickened. Roll on to January 2020, my lining is now very thin after coming off hrt, they did a biopsy, took 2 samples, which was uncomfortable due to a thinner lining. The nurse said to the doctor who was doing it that there didnt look enough of a sample, so she took another. However, they didnt take enough and they cant test it, they want to do another biopsy. I dont want to have another so soon after as I cant face weeks of fatigue, I think the biopsy has upset my hormones. Has anyone else experienced symptoms after a biopsy?

I had bleeding for a few days, so I suppose your body thinks it a period, I think that explains the symptoms.

Hello Pandora.

I wonder if coming off HRT, even if it was for a short while, has unsettled your hormones and caused fatigue. Another possibility is blood loss resulting in anaemia.

Sorry I can't be of more help and I hope you feel better soon.

Did they say why they wanted another biopsy a year after the first and if the lining was thin.  I had a biopsy a couple of years ago for bleeding and like you they wanted to another because they didn't get enough sample cos the lining was thin. I couldn't face another and refused so they made do with doing an I intra vaginal scan, I think that's the term. The gynaecologist was not very happy with my refusal though.  Maybe you could have a scan instead?

Hi Suzysunday

They didnt take enough sample to test and the nurse told the doctor she didnt think there was enough, and the doctor said there was, so she took a second sample anyway. It doesnt fill you with confidence does it, the doc had 2 chances to get it right.  Just like you said I cant face it again.

Were you having more bleeding for you to have another biopsy a year later?

No, no more bleeding since stopping hrt a year ago. Womb lining very thin since stopping hrt. Had hysteroscopy too a few months back.

So what was the reason for further investigation?

Hi

Yes i am still off HRT, with no support from the Womens Healthcare Dept I might add. I have been off it a year to the day. I have had quite a few appointments and not one person has actually asked how am I doing, or if I am having any symptoms.

Suzysunday The reason was a year ago I had some bleeding so the GPs have to send you for further investigations and I am post meno. As I say that was a year ago. I have had all the investigations through the year. I was told 2 appointments ago that they would discharge me but now I hear they want to do a pelvic scan. I have no symptoms of bleeding and a thin lining (which the doctor said its more difficult to get a sample with a thin lining) Well maybe make sure you get enough then so I dont have to go through it again ( I didnt say it, but think it now).

Ok.  I did not have follow up appointments so was a bit confused.  Surely the less invasive intra vaginal scan would be sufficient at this stage with no bleeding.  It's a horrible dilemma to be in cos you feel you should co operate.   Only you can decide what you can cope with.  X

Yes it is a dilemma, I do feel I should cooperate so will see what happens.

Thanks for replying
