Hi all

Apologies if I'm repeating anything, I'd like some Estring User Guidance please.

I was going to do another 2 week Vagifem load before swapping over to Estring as my problems with the Estrogel have made things twinge again in the nethers. Then I'll combine Estring with Ovestin externally.

Any guidance re:

- easiest way to insert
- how to get the ring in position
- easiest way to get it out
- whether to use a lubricant to help insertion
- potential side effects
- potential discomfort
- use post hysterectomy (no cervix)

Any other top tips.

Oooo just watched the Estring video. I thought the Estring needed to sit horizontal on the cervix, I see it just sits vertical inside.

Sorry I can't answer any of your questions, but I feel for you this virginal atrophy is terrible, and I'm doing a two week loading of Vagifem myself.

Let's us know if Estring works? How long the Estring last in your body? Sorry Estring is a new one for me , is it that ring thing people talk about that last 3 months?

Hi, yes it should last 90 days apparently. I'm not thrilled at the idea of having a silica ring permanently inside and I'm squeamish about inserting and removing but I'm going to trial it I think.

I'm basically sick to death of every waking hour thinking about damned HRT, applying numerous gels creams and pessaries, and the myriad of symptoms to try and control. The reminder alarm on my phone is constantly pinging away. I'm going to try patches and the estring and hope for the best! X

I sure I remember reading a while back about a ring inserted in your virgina for virginal atrophy, but I thought I read that your doctor inserts for you?

Good luck, please let me know if it works for you, and I understand what you mean about inserting and using products on your virgina, I never touched myself so much in my life

Bobidy - If you have had your cervix removed as well as womb I'm not sure how the Estring would work because if it's like the contraceptive ring - it sits in place around the cervix? Maybe there is info about this on the user information? I may be completely wrong about this though!

Hmm I did wonder about that. I think I might have mentioned about it before and another lady said it was ok? I could be wrong though x

Best check with a specialist I would say? Maybe there are others who've had total hysterectomy and also use Estring who might post?
