I was prescribed Estring pessary by my consultant gynaecologist for very sore vaginal atrophy and Dermovate ointment for sore vulva. Amazing transformation! Dermovate reduced slowly down to nothing, now using Vagisestan cream nightly which stopped itchy and soreness and Estring started it's magic within the week.
Run it under the warm water to make it easier to insert and push it up, it'll encircle the cervix. I've used it for three years, changing three monthly, sometimes leaving it for several weeks before popping a new one. I do not feel any discomfort whatsoever.
I don't have a partner so not having sex sadly but I'd remove it with a new partner initially although it can be left in.
Just do it!!

Hi Mrs. B...I know you were having issues with Vagifem.  I did too however I presisted (thx. to the ladies on here) on using it.  After several months, it finally started to work.  Vagifem takes a very long time.  What was your issue with it?  Can't help with the Estring but if vagifem is really causing grief, it is the next option.

Hi Lindaj.....thank you for your reply
still too nervous about using Estring it looks so big 😳🤣....i know i need to get a grip quite literally.......
Whatsupwiththis......the Vagifem was not dissolving properly also gave headaches??  so using Ovestin but to be honest 'that's not so great either.....i just can't seem to find a regime that suits me.....worried that Estring will be too much hormone although it is constant....doctor seems to think i get spikes using either Vagifem or ovestin.....twice weekly....suffering quite badly at the moment with niggly bladder....i am awaiting an appointment with a womens physio so hoping that she will be able to help me 🤞 xx

Did your dr. suggest using Vagifem every second night?  Twice a week is not much and many ladies, including myself, need to use it daily or every second day.  Ditto ovestin.  If the estring is not an option (wasn't for me...too atrophied) then ask your dr. to increase Vagifem.  Good luck Mrs. B.  This VA is a nasty bugger and takes A LONG TIME to get it under control.

No she didn't suggest using Vagifem more.......just to swap over to
Ovestin.......
as the pessaries were not dissolving properly.....also suffered headaches .....but still getting headaches with Ovestin  .......i am now using the  Ovestin more frequently but not the full dose at anyone time.....not sure whether 'that's ok or not 😳 xx

Trial and error.  Unfortunately what works for one doesn't work for another. Those of us who have VA can totally understand and empathize with you.  There are some newer products on the market that ladies have had success with.  Intrarosa?  There is quite a good thread on it so try putting intrarosa into search engine.  This might be a viable option for you.

Estring, best thing ever, I've been using it for almost 4 years.anything else just causes irritation for me.

It really is easy to insert, run under the warm tap, squeeze sides together and insert, then using a finger push it as far up as you can, I find squatting the easiest position to achieve this. it seems to find its position quite easily above the pubic bone, and around the cervix.

Just do it 😊 you won't regret it x

Vagifem tablets and Ovestin ointment made my vaginal unbearably sore to the point I was better off without and my consultant thought I was allergic to certain ingredients in them both.
Estring has been my saviour.

Mrs B, you have to be a big brave lady, go in the shower, warm the ring under the water, squeeze and pop it in. Push it gently up, the water warms and lubricates, it'll find its way. Within a while, you'll forget its there.
It does look ominous but it secretes a tiny daily amount to help you improve your vaginal health.
I was so very sore and desperate for help. I cannot thank gynaecologist enough for this. Take time in the shower and Do It.

Oh my word Lindaj.....i keep thinking that too.....i have swapped from Vagifem to Ovestin and back to Vagifem ......now back with the Ovestin again but still no relief.....just worried that the dose in the Estring is a tad higher so may give me side effects 🙄.......also i have a small anterior prolapse and feel it would be harder to insert the Estring.....i know I'm making excuses.....just need to get a handle on all my anxieties i guess......just feel quite fed up with it all and have only been suffering for  a year  which isn't long considering the time some of the ladies on this forum have had symptoms xx
