Perimenopause advice
« on: November 25, 2019, 09:26:54 PM »

I am PM and had not had a period for 5months until yesterday. I had a feeling it was coming because for the past 3 weeks I've slept well and had no flushes. Around 3 weeks ago I had extreme dizziness and nausea for a few days and I'm now wondering if it was due to a rise in hormones? Is this normal for the PM? I'm very confused
Thanks in advance x

Hi there and welcome
Yes,all very normal, your hormones will fluctuate,so some days/months you'll feel fine, then back come the symptoms, make sure you are taking supplements and do talk to your dr x

Thanks, I do take menopace which currently seems to help. When I spoke to the practice nurse about HRT she said that I would need to be menopausal and not PM before the doctor would prescribe it. I'm not convinced this is true??

Absolute sh*t. You get the symptoms in peri so why on earth would you wait til it's all over before replacing you reduced oestrogen levels. Suggest you make an appointment with the gp and if he won't prescribe it ask for a referral to a meno clinic. Perhaps take the nhs guidelines with you.

I wasn't impressed tbh, offered no good advice at all. Will make an appointment with my GP. It's ridiculous the way menopause advice is so sketchy!!

Absolute nonsense, Dr Newson etc all say hrt should start when perimenopause symptoms hit to get maximum benefit and protection. Don't suffer unnecessarily. I think the NICE guidelines say that too? X
