I never got the idea of the Masons but apparently it was Guilds started with artisans: goldsmiths, silversmiths, people who made enough money to help those in need.  No women allowed initially but then there was something started so that they could get involved, similar to Rotary and - name escapes me

No, The Templar Knights were a christian military religious  order. The knights took a form of holy orders and a vow of chastity. You could say the Freemason are/were a sudo religion, but certainly nothing to do with the church.

You're confusing two different things.  The medieval Knights Templar (think of the crusaders), and a mosonic order formed in the 1700s.  The two have no connection.

The story of the Ark of the Covenant and the Templar is a myth.  There is no historical evidence.
