How long did you look for the best "for you" HRT?!
« on: October 27, 2019, 11:33:27 AM »

To be hones, except how it works and what is chemical interaction within HRT - I didnt knew about them much. You can call me ignorant, but I never thought that at the age of 32 I will went through menopause. But life can be brutal and I decided it for myself, knewing what menopause is - I talked a lot with my mother, and what she went through. The vision of menopause wasn't so bad - looking what I was going through. I knew I will be on HRT for many years, but no one never told me, how hard is to find the right HRT. Only thanks to this forum I was able to open my eyes - that my horrible mood, my swollen legs - that CAN be changed - I just need to change HRT. I didn't knew that HRT can have sooooo many side effects. As a Pharmacist I feel ashemed of myself (even thou I didn't work as one for last 8 years).
First I got FemSeven - I felt great on them - I could move the mountains... but I was allergic to their glue - I had horrible blisters arround and under patch :(
Then I hot Evorel - I felt fine, but my legs were swollen, my mental state was getting worser and worser - I didn't thought that could be from patches so I didnt said anything, but my GP saw that I have problems with walking and I told him about swellings - he changed for Estraderm.
Estraderm... I have no swellings, no allergy reaction, my mood improved a lot - I'm not a suicidal freek anymore  ;D For now at least  ;) But it's not as great, as it was on FemSeven.
I have another 20 years or more with HRT - I don't want to spent them feeling bad.
How long it took for you, to find the most ideal option - for you?

Like you Viwi, I feel best on FemSeven, but I've had around 8/9 years of varying degrees of success and failure on many, many different regimes. The prog was always an issue for me and I'm really hoping the femseven keeps working and is available again early next year. Lucky is the lady who finds success on her 1st hrt. We keep trying!

I started menopause at 32, I had a hysterectomy and the blood supply to the ovaries was accidentally severed

I was put on elleste solo and immediately got on with it for 13 years.  At 45 I came crashing down and needed to change hrt so tried patches, they don't suit me as I get terrible palpitations so around my 50th I tried gel and get on much better with it x

About a year, I think. At first I started with livial for 2 months, that didn't suit me at all. I tried cyclo progynova and was almost suicidal. It was a real disaster for me and after it I tried Femoston 2/10 and it is ok. I am on it for 2 years now and feel normal. I am 43.

Hi Viwi - In answer to your question the first HRT I tried wasn't for me but then the second one lasted 3-4 years and then I changed the type of progesterone and still on it - but I was above average age of menopause and very late peri when I started it - which I think can make it easier when your own hormones are not raging aboiut

However I am very sorry to see that you have decided to leave the forum - you were still a member when I was last here on Thursday...

If you are still looking in - please do reconsider and come back and join us! I do hope you are OK and if there is anything we can help with, or you are upset about, please do send a private message to someone, or contact Emma if more serious. I thought you fitted in really well but maybe some of us seem a bit too old  ::).  Misunderstandings usually get resolved OK!

I am pleased you found this forum helpful and hopefully you will settle on the best HRT for you. Do come back so we can help and support you for longer on your menopause journey?

All the best :)
