VA and burning
« on: September 27, 2019, 04:14:52 PM »

Sorry for a new post again, but I really feel desperate. I just don't know what to do I am in such pain. The stinging sensation that started on Monday now feels like acute burning. It feels like I've been sprayed with some type of acid around the genital area. I tried some estriole on the outside last night and woke up two hours later in real pain with the burning. Couldn't sleep it was hurting so much. I then put some Yes OB on and I don't really think that made much difference, though I did eventually go back to sleep so maybe it did.

Today, I don't know how Ive coped it is constantly burning and I've been close to tears and found it impossible to concentrate. I can't go on like this but I don't know what to do. I've got some yes VM coming tomorrow but I'm not that hopeful that it will give that much relief.

Has anyone got any suggestions and or has anyone experienced this and it just got better? I have no idea what has triggered it. It's come completely out of the blue.

Yes I could have written this myself.  Stinging like nettles and unable to even stand.  My Dr. finally put me on amitryl 40 mg. and it has definately helped.  I still get soreness and stinging when I sit but much better than it was.  Amitriptyline does take 3 or 4 months to reach full effect but I started to notice relief after 3 to 4 weeks.

Shropshirelass, so sorry to hear this, it is rotten. Maybe you are reacting to the estriol cream. I have in the past found both the creams stung like blazes and had a similar reaction to Ovestin (although OK with Estriol Cream now, so there is hope).

Have you been swabbed for infections such as thrush and BV? These can result in a lot of soreness.

I'm wondering if a 1% hydrocortisone cream or ointment might get the inflammation down. You could also try a well-wrapped ice pack, or a little MultiGyn Actigel. Have you had a look at the area?

What I did was to use an Estring only for a while, then reintroduced Vagifem along with some Yes VM to make sure it dissolved. In that way I could rule things in or out by not using too many products.

I can't think what else to suggest for your immediate problem, but I guess a trip to the GP or nurse might be in order for Monday.

Thanks Ive decided to stop everything as you suggest StellaJane for a few days. Joaniepat, hopefully if I then introduce things one at a time I can see what works or what makes it worse. I'm guessing I should continue with the vagifem but will leave til midweek as well I think. Can't do the commando as to compound issues my withdrawal bleed has started. Fingers crossed it's still bad but not quite as painful today.

HI,

I am so sorry for your suffering.  I have had exactly the same happen to me a few times for no obvious reason and you think at the time it will never go away.

I took painkillers and was so sore underneath used Sudacrem for a couple of days at its worst. But like you i try everything to get it to go away and probably overdo it with pessaries, thrush pills etc in case anything helps.  What you probably find is by the time you get to doctors it has all calmed down again.

Still trying different things to see what works best for me with vaginal hrt.  I have found using Balmonds Skin Salvation every day on the outside has helped. Just started using it as had it in the house and i notice the ingredients are similar to the other natural creams/ointments advertised specifically for vulval/vaginal area but it is a bit cheaper.

Hope you feel better soon
