On Kliofem Need Advice
« on: September 19, 2019, 09:40:41 AM »

I haven't been on this site for sometime but I know it is the place to come when you need advice.

I am in my late fifties and have been happily taking Elleste Duet 2mg for several years having a small period for 2 or 3 days every month.  In June I was unable to get my usual sequential HRT tablets due to the shortage and so I saw a doctor who told me that at my age I should be on continuous combined HRT and prescribed Kliofem 2mg.

I have been taking Kliofem for 3 months and have been bleeding continuously.  I am having lots of hot flushes in the day and night sweats, I have no energy, I don't feel like doing much, I feel negative most of the time, my hair is still shedding, my head is foggy and generally I don't feel very good.

The doctor didn't give me any advice on what to expect when changing from sequential to continuous and if I had known how I would feel and would be bleeding every day I would have resisted changing.

Are there any ladies who have been in this situation like me and what did you do to sort things out?

I know I have to go back to the doctor ( can never see the same one which doesn't help) but what should I be asking for?  Should I ask for a blood test, higher dose, change back?

If I go armed with information then maybe I can get sorted.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hi spangle , Iwas on elleste  duet 2mg and was given kliofem took for just a week started bleeding straight away and had a very bad headache rang doctors told me to stop taking them, and after a few days my headache went I ended up ring pharmacy around where I lived and I managed too get a box of elleste duet 2mg just hoping when I Finnished this box  I will be able to get some more , as have read that elleste duet is now available so hoping I can get some a lady on here said she gets her online so I was thinking I may do that.
I have had too change HRT 3 times as the ones I was on I could not get don't want too change again as it is hard enough even with HRT.
I would go back too the doctors too see if there is something else or see of you can get the ones you where on,
Hope you get it sorted
Take care

Hi Paula

Thanks for your advice.  I thought i would give it 3 months to see if I would settle but its really getting me down now.  I am starting my fourth pack today and will go back to the doctor.  I have to say though that most of them are not really that knowledgable about HRT, thats why I posted on this forum.

They don't realise how debilitating the menopause is.  You can't just get on with it when you feel so unable to function.  I am feeling really down.  Every day I hope the bleeding will stop, but it keeps on and on.  I wish I hadn't started Kliofem, I am worried they won't let me go back on Elleste Duet cos I am post menopause (if it is available).  I dont really like taking extra progesterone, my hair is getting so thin.

Thanks for your support Paula and best wishes.

Has anyone out there got on with Kliofem?  Or had months of bleeding like me, did it stop?
