After the 'drama' of being prescribed Evorel Conti (yuk) from Femoston 1/10 tablets I have now been prescribed the mini-pill (POP) Cerazette. I had a chat with the 'meno' nurse at my GP who said I was 'difficult to assess and may not be in menopause yet' - yeah, I guessed that.

I turned 51 last week and have just had blood tests and an ECG which have come back in the normal range. I had the tests as I was getting digestive issues, stomach pain, constipation and heart flutters. Also had 3 periods in 6 weeks which were painful but the flow was manageable. I was also getting migraines with and without aura and the night sweats were returning (on Femoston).

I have not taken any HRT or the mini-pill for a couple of weeks and had a couple of night hot flushes but they've also been manageable. All the fluid build-up I had in my ankles and lower legs has vanished and I've managed to lose weight. Meno nurse won't give me extra oestrogen or vagifem. She says the constant progesterone should be better for me due to the migraines and should stop my periods.

I'm not sure whether to take this or not. I don't particularly trust her knowledge to be honest.

Could I still be in perimenopause? Being on the sequi Femoston gave me a bleed but it may not have been a true period. I'm toying with an idea of not taking the Cerazette and just seeing what happens in the next 3 months.

What do you all think?

Sorry can't be much help re Cerazette, don't know anything about it, but i think it's disgraceful that she wont give you vagifem,
Can you see your own GP? I gree about the Evoral Conti, it was awful for me too

Hi jaycee - my own GP is off sick and the other is booked solid for 5 - 6 weeks. The meno nurse is all we have now for HRT/meno issues. It is rather dispiriting that a woman should be so rigid in her thoughts on HRT/peri/meno things and doesn't look at things in more depth or holistically. They don't have time I suppose.

I'm rather tempted to go with the flow and not take it just to see what happens... (famous last words  ).

Oh dear wobbles,i know the feeling, my own GP was away for 12 weeks due to having an operation, so had to see a woman Dr about my sudden hair loss, she said have a blood test for thyroid and if it isnt that nothing you can do, nyway thyroid was ok, so went back saw another woman Dr,still no sympathy or suggestions,
Eventually saw my own Dr,who at least tried,he gave me steroid lotion, which sometimes works, but didn't for me, so gave me another HRT [Evoral Conti] which made more hair fall out, due to Norethisterone
I don't know why women Drs and nurses, are so unsympathetic and not understanding to other women
Could you not see another Dr in the practice [a man preferably] lol

Hi jaycee again, sorry to hear about your hair loss. I sometimes wonder with the blood tests/thyroid checks whether the NHS's normal range is really that normal. I know in the States /Japan and other countries in Europe have different levels which are much lower than the NHS's ones. You could be borderline here but they won't treat it 

Unfortunately, we only have 2 GPs at our surgery and the prescribing nurse who is also the meno nurse. I'm hoping they'll bring in a locum. Perhaps I should go to a vet
