Estradiol Gel Daily Amount?
« on: August 25, 2019, 08:00:43 AM »

Thought I would start a thread on the various dosages of Estrogel and symptoms relief

I've been applying approximately 1.5 pumps of Estrogel per day and I seem to be getting more anxious with a shorter fuse and hyperactive. Problem is if I reduce it to one pump I feel chilled but I get a couple of hot flushes. 😯

Just interested to know if anyone else feels better on just one pump? And will one pump be enough for bone health.. 🤔

I've just changed from 100 patch and the doctor said I have 1.5 sachets of gel, I hope this is enough as have ostreprina .

Maybe try 1 pump and 1 curl?

I've made the mistake of changing up and down too quickly. I think dose changes can take a time to take effect depending on the person too.
Which I wish I had realised.

I just seem unable to find a happy amount if Estrogel at the moment. Thought about splitting the dose morning and evening to see if that helps .

Hi, I started Estrogel at the end of May x 1 pump, a couple of weeks later went up to x 2 pumps. I initially felt better but then seemed to plateau, still getting symptoms. My oestrogen is still pretty low at 280ish so I've been advised to go up to 3 x pumps. I've done an extra half pump for a couple of weeks and going to go the whole hog with x 3 today.

I think it is very individualised. I recently had a hysterectomy so I know my ovaries may conk quicker. I'm 45 so higher doses are ok. Peri fluctuations also affect me at the mo.

Dr Newson advised me to split doses morning and night, which is a faff to be honest but I'll try anything! I think Dotty does all hers at the same time?

I'm hopeful I'll get to the right dose soon. The beauty of the gel is that it is easy to experiment.

Good luck x

Hi Bobby...yes I use 4 pumps at the same time in the morning.  Some specialists say that you shouldn't split the dose and others say you should  :-\ x

Does anyone know what the equivalent Estrogel pump would be compared to Estradot 50?

Have a look at this link.  The rough equivalent to a 50 patch would be 2 pumps x

Thanks Dotty, I've been on 1.5 pumps of Estrogel so I'll cut a quarter off my patch and see how I go.

Birdy I'm struggling to get a happy dose on Estrogel so I thought a patch may be easier..

Are you still foggy too? I can't advise any more as I am in a very similar boat. I thought it was utrogestan making me feel crap but it definitely is not!

Exactly, I was putting it all down to Utrogestan when in fact some of my symptons were being caused by too much Estrogel. If I take too much I get anxious, irritable, have indigestion, belching all the time and palpitations. I know this because I took the Estrogen alone for a while to try and find out what was what. I guess my body only likes a low dose of Estrogen. :(

i tried reducing the gel, but I became more miserable.  ???

How much did you reduce it by, I use my hot flushes as a marker point. Once they are under control I'm happy.

Half a pump at a time, ten days apart. It's like waiting for frigging christmas.  :-\

With none of the perks Birdy  ;D Good job we can see the funny side... 😕

Awww Birdy,   :bighug: Well I still appear to be having hot flushes on an Estradot 50 patch , so maybe I need a 75 what a palava. Maybe I absorb more estrogen from the gel than I do from a patch.  :sigh:

I started on two pumps in March and felt amazing pretty much straight away. Then in July I noticed I was starting to get hot flushes. Nowhere near as bad as before but still there. And I was definitely more of a cow with my family. I had the shortest fuse. I increased to three pumps and still didn't feel quite right. I'm now on four and feel 100% better. I definitely use the flushes as my benchmark. I do find for me that I feel the difference really quickly even though you should really give it three months to kick in.
