I'm sixty and post menopause about five years.  I had been on Elleste Conti Duet and that seemed to work well for me BUT I also took anti-depressants (Mirtazapine) and I felt pretty good.  After a while I thought I would just see where I was and came off the Elleste but
I did start to suffer from anxiety, panic, insomnia.  I decided to pay Prof Studd a visit and he prescribed the body-identical hormones
Estrogel (two pumps) and Utrogestan 100 mg every night with twice weekly Tostran.  I came off the anti-depressants in December.   At first the anxiety and panic went and I started sleeping without help for the first time in years.  But within the last month or so I am noticing a mixture of nausea, anxiety and lack of energy.  I have decided to increase the Estrogel to three to see if that helps.

Are there any post menopausal women on this regime and how have you found it?  I must admit I am feeling rather confused and weary with it all.  We're going on holiday in September for three weeks and I don't want to be feeling like this!

Hi yes I'm post menopause and been on Oestrogel 4 pumps, Utrogestan every night and testosterone for 18 months. It works very well for me x

Were you always on four pumps or did you increase from two? If so, do you mind me asking what symptoms you had on the lower dose?

Hi I was on hrt tablets 2mg for 3months prior to using the gel.  I started on 2 pumps and increased to 3 a week later and then to 3.5.  After a month I went up to 4.

My symptoms were horrendous...total exhaustion, nausea, heart palpitations, hot and cold flushes, anxiety, insomnia,....and loads more.  I was very, very poorly mentally and physically. Once I was on the right type and dose of hrt I began to get better. x

I keep wondering whether I am taking too much or too little Estrogen or whether it's the progesterone that is making me feel like this.  My strategy is to increase the E, see how I feel and take it from there.  I must keep the faith!  Interestingly the symptoms you experienced are similar to mine although I haven't had hot flushes for ages.  It's such a conundrum.

I would say that it's low oestrogen. I also use Tostran but I use it 4 times a week x

I am on Oestrogel 1 pump and 100mg of Utrogestan x 12 days per mth.

Me,  7 days Utrogestan month and two pumps of Estrogel per day. I haven't added testosterone into the mix yet..

I'm post meno and I started HRT yesterday,I'm on Oestrogel x2 pumps a day and Utrogestan 100 mg a day continuously,I've been advised that once you are post meno you can take it everyday

Unless you're intolerant ti Utrogestan which I am, so I just take it for 7 days per month at the beginning of each month.

I would hate to take it every day, it makes me feel jittery. I take it 12 days a month 100mg.

Unless you're intolerant ti Utrogestan which I am, so I just take it for 7 days per month at the beginning of each month.

I've only just started it this week and was advised by a specialist to take the 100mgs everyday without a break,my gp told me to take 100 msg on days 1-25 leaving a three day break but you don't have to do that if you aware post meno,how long were you on it before you realised you were intolerant,I'm hoping I will be ok with it,I never had a problem with any of the contraceptive pills I was on but that was a long time ago

After about a month, I never had a problem with the contraceptive pill either but Utrogestan is nothing like my old contraceptive pill.

Very much post and I cope just fine, I cheat and sometimes push it out to 12 tablets every 6 weeks as I dont enjoy the utrogestan part.
