wrensong, similar issue impinged shoulder (i've had x4 cortisone injections for it), again lying unused and taking up room so gave it to a good home!
Hula hoop, tried it disaster, was hunting for my skipping rope the other day to start that again.

Oh bad lucky Foxy - sounds like a sensible decision to get rid of it.

I bought an exercise bike,
It's a great clothes horse.

I'm hopeless 😞😞 just cannot get started.

Start off with just one minute, GH & work up!  Boring as hell, so site it facing a window with a lovely view of outside if you can.  My window has a lovely relaxing view of neighbours' trees & sky & nothing man made in the frame.  Put some inspirational music on your MP3 for the duration once you get up to long enough sessions that boredom's a deterrent!  I get too hot on mine, so bought a pair of tiny black lycra swim shorts  :o rather than risk having to leap off & answer front door in my knickers & giving the poor postman a heart attack!

Great to see you on here GH - had been wondering about you  :-*.

Exercise bikes are soooooo boring,my rowing machine is too,I force myself to do 15 mins on it,my cross trainer is good though it has Bluetooth and you can buy this app,it connects to the machine via an iPad and you go running all over the world,I was in Iceland today 😆

I wouldn't buy an exercise bike because I'd have nowhere suitable to put it! I have just had my ordinary bike serviced so intend to do some short trips. Has anyone managed to get a Fitbit to record cycling? I did a very short test and selected bike ride on the app but it measured nothing at all, probably because my wrist wasn't moving.

Exercise bikes are the worst Jaypo - mind-numbing - OH & I are agreed (for a change) & he's a very keen cyclist.  Don't know what it is about static bikes, but rowing machine is somehow far better to me.

Forgot to say I use a resistance band for upper body strengthening as well as the weights, but hate it!

Really don't know Jaypo - we've discussed that time & again as both far prefer to cycle outside.  The changing scenery, controlling gears, climbing hills, avoiding potholes & stabilising the bike while one idiot white van man after another passes at 70 on back roads a hair's breadth from your elbow - all keeps the brain alert I suspect.  The scenery hereabouts is lovely too.  But why ex bike is worse than other forms of indoor torture is a mystery!  ;D

Can I PM you with a question, Jaypo?!

My FitBit tracks my cycling - I cycle to and from work every day.  It just does it automatically.  FitBit HR.  I love my FitBit.

So the gym is sort of going well, I managed to lose 7lbs right at the beginning, and then no more, totally static on the weight, however, I have lost two inches from the waist.  I'm taking that as a win.  Still managing 3 x week, but I'm doing it in my lunch hour (or 90 mins) and it really helps head-wise.

As for the hula hoop.  Youngest is very good at all that stuff, juggles fire, etc, and I realised I had the wrong foot forward / was sort of doing it backwards.  All most there.  Really tiring though.

Some great ideas here.   I have started jogging 5 days out of 7 and upped it to 45 minutes.
When I had a bad sleep and anxious next day I took the GP advice and went for a 45 minute jog. I
didn't want to go - I was tired and stressed but I am AMAZED. I had so much energy. I sprinted for an hour.
I was cross with myself/the world/sick of worrying. And my body didn't give out. I ran until all the adrenaline
and cortisone was out of me and my mind was blank rather than going round in loops.

Also sticking with the cold(ish..)showers before I go to bed and sleep is incredibly improving.

It is peeing down today but I am still going out for a jog for 30 minutes.

Funny my friend was diagnosed with PND (she is Swedish but lives in UK) and the NHS just gave her pills.   Her mum took her back to Sweden and she went to a PND clinic where they got up at 6am and had to be outdoors all day, walking, working, exercising.  She credits that with her recovery (although she has also  been on Antidepressants ever since too)

I love eating hula hoops ;-).  I paid a quid for my hoop at the sea-side a few years ago.  Couldn't do it though  :-\

I got the hoop from my daughter.  There's three hanging on the coat pegs in the lounge (or sitting room as my mother would say, only airports have lounges).  She's got three different sizes, big, medium and small, and they're all weighted.  Apparently, small is the hardest.  You start just rocking backwards and forwards, not really side to side, and then build up to the full hula move.

And gratz on the running.  I can't run, due to asthma, but I walk and walk with the dog sometimes, really sorts me out.
