Do VA Symptoms Come and Go ?
« on: July 23, 2019, 05:37:15 PM »

Hello ladies.

I am post menopause and using HRT at the moment however some VA symptoms have appeared lately. Oddly though it's not all the time because they seem to come and go during the day. For example I can feel a bit sore at times but then be back to normal at other times. All within the space of one day. It's almost like the tissue is being starved of oestrogen then suddenly gets enough. I am used to my moods, jitters and flushes coming and going but I didn't think this would apply to VA as well.  Btw I am not using anything for it at the moment.

Does this resonate with anyone else?  Any advice or comments gratefully received as always.

Take care everyone.

For me they don't fluctuate over an individual day but I have good periods and not so good. So I will sleep much better for a period with fewer loo trips in the night and will then have a not so good week with returned internal irritation and referred aching in my hip. I find that it flares up particularly if I am feeling unwell for a different reason. I had a slight virus last week and was tired and the VA got worse. This week it is much better but I am using vagifem and trying Evorel Conti as well.

Hello Katejo.

Thanks for your response.

It's interesting that your symptoms get worse when you are  unwell. I wonder if your VA is reacting along with your immune system or whether just being more tired makes it worse, then again being tired makes everything worse so why not VA?

I meant to say that so far I don't have problems with increased urination nor any referred pain but  possibly those delights are yet to come!

Thanks again and take care.

I've been ok for a few weeks then this week had a VA flare up, no change in meds or routine except for some worrying family news, stress  does it everytime for me.

Hi Ladies,

I suffer with good and bad days with this VA...
I started having these problems in 2016...it's changed me to be honest, it's a horrible condition that I realise will be something I have git to live with...worse things I know can happen but that said it's still doesn't make it easier to live with sometimes.

I take Timbolone and Vagifem which does help...but doesn't make it go far away.

It's caused me anxiety and at times I think is this really vaginal dryness or something much worse 😔 I never realised this condition could be so challenging...

I don't have any itching but soreness and urinary problems at times 😔

Apologies to go on a bit, but it's hard being a women sometimes isn't it.  :o

Love to all x

Mine is stress related too. It started with regularly getting UTI'S  when I was due to go on holiday when it was impossible to get a GP appt in time. That has happened so many times. Then I started getting the burning and referred discomfort just over a year ago.

There doesn't seem to be any pattern, I can have a couple of really good weeks and think great then try to think what I've done different that has worked, then I'll become sore again but have changed nothing really. It's so frustrating also not being able to up the medication as and when needed to sort out these up and downs. I wonder if women had these fluctuations when the dosage was more than double per vagifem tablet (25mcg).

I think just having these vaginal problems is stressful in its self.

I agree stress about things that perhaps are going on in your life and then problems down below are difficult.  :o

kimmyl - what happens if you do a reload of the 'vagifem'?   This is such a small amount that some ladies need nightly applications in order to keep symptoms under control.  Do read the threads about vaginal atrophy on here.  Make notes  ;)

Some ladies need 2 applications at once occasionally.  It really is Trial and Error.

Kathleen: my symptoms are intermittent, worse if I don't keep up with twice weekly 'ovestin'.  Initially it presented as repeated urine infection-type need to pee all the while, as well as razor blades up there  :o  :o : then my GP realised it was dryness so 'ovestin' was prescribed. Job Done  ;)

Some ladies use 'sylc' and/or 'yes' products too.  Have a browse and see if U would benefit Kathleen?

Hello again ladies and thank you all.

Perhaps VA symptoms do wax and wane according to other triggers. My undercarriage feels normal today but I'm trying not to read too much into that and just enjoy feeling okay.

Thanks again lovely ladies and take care.

You may require appropriate treatment eventually.  My symptoms came and went for a couple of years  :o B4 the razor blades got up there.
