Blood results
« on: July 23, 2019, 12:36:15 PM »

A few weeks ago i had a blood test which showed my oestradiol level to be 352 pmol using a 100 Estradot patch.  Ive just done another test, this time after adding a pump of Estrogel which i need to control my symptoms and the result was 431.
My GP has admiited that he hasn't got a clue about HRT and a while ago he refered me to a gyni clinic, and this was the reason I had the blood tests because they got back to him telling him to.
Before the second blood test was done the GP told me that my level at 352 was too high and it should be no more than 300 and wants me to reduce my HRT and go and anti depressants. I dont feel depressed, i feel irritated and no enthusiasm when my dose isnt high enough.
I saw my GP notes today and i could see on there is a note from the gyni clinic saying " if levels greater than 300 on 100 patch she does not need extra estrogen. If levels less than 300 suggest change to estrogel 3 pumps daily".
I did over 6 months on 3 pumps of estrogel last year and I couldnt get on with it , symptoms kept returning despite trying the dose in one go and splitting.
Waiting for the GP to get back to me and don't know what to do. I can't cope on just the patch alone.
P.s also showed T4 level at 11.3pmol and TSH level of 0.93 mU/L

Why refer to a Gynae? Why not a Menopause Clinic  :-\.

Maybe go to your local Pharmacist for advice, take your regime and discuss.  He/she can contact the manufacturer if necessary.  Also, what might be 'correct' for 1 lady might not help another  ::)

You can still get a referral to a menopause clinic somewhere else. I go to the Chelsea & Westminster but live outside London.

I asked my GP and he said that the guy he referred me to is a meno specialist.

Look at this site you can find out whether or not the person you have been referred to is a specialist as recognised by the British Menopause Society.

It lists NHS as well as private.

Thank you GJP.
I've googled him and it says he's a consultant gynaecologist and an 'expert' in hormonal issues such as menopause.
