Hi Charlie 62, that's a pain for you ....  >:( Its so difficult isn't it?! None of us really ‘want' to be on HRT, we all try to ‘man up' from time to time and bite the bullet reducing HRT in the hope of coming off altogether.  I've recently done this over a 7 month period, but anxiety, dry skin, intolerance of heat (rather than hot flushes) returned.  So I'm back on 1 1/2 pumps gel and ready to start utrogestan 200's on day 15  :-\
Thing is I'm thinking the oestrogen is making me feel more wired, and wondering if maybe I shouldn't be taking it?? Maybe when I've completed the progestogen cycle it will balance things out again? Who knows.... I had perimenopause from 43 and have been post meno for about 10 years!!! Beginning to wonder if I should ever have gone on HRT which I have been since peri (mostly).  Let us know how you get on at your next appt. LL x

Charlie, your symptoms will return. By taking hrt you have raised your hormone levels. They are now falling again.
Give your body a chance to naturally balance. It takes some time, but will get better.
Drink lots of water to flush out the toxins and in the meantime, try to do good exercise, eat a balanced diet and take good supplements. X

Hello again ladies.

I have only just checked out this thread again, no idea how I missed it!

I have started to reduce my HRT and I'll update the forum if I discover anything that may be useful to other ladies.

Wishing everyone well.

K.

How are you ladies giving it up without suffering the consequences of withdrawal.  I moved from the patch to gel and utrogestan in March and I am no better, in fact worse and I believe its the progesterone causing me more issues as the side effects and anxiety is through the roof.  My specialist suggested I cus down a pump a week and then completely stop everything which I feel is too quick and would surely send ones system into shock? .

I am now scared of progesterone withdrawal.    I suggested I  want to wean off the hrt (the way she suggested), but in order to  minimise any withdrawal from the progesterone  I would like to move back on to the Evorel Conti patch so at least I am still getting a little of each, as I wasn't absorbing the full dose from the patch anyway) and then wean off that slowly.  I had no issues at all on the patch except for the fact that I wasn't absorbing properly

I know we're all different and at different stages, but just a word of encouragement... since I stopped hrt, I did get flushes/sweats back and now and again leg stiffness, but 9 months on and these really are fading.
I do enjoy a glass of wine, but do find that brings on a hot flush. Not so much recently though.
I am sticking to my base of good quality supplements and that, I think is very important. That they are quality ingredients. I've found Viridian and bio care have quality ingredients.
Keeping weight down really helps and I'm regularly eating phytoestrogens and lignans. Eg lentil dishes, chickpeas (hummus), ground flaxseeds.

I really feel this combination of things must be really helping, unless I would have had reduced symptoms anyway. Hard to know for sure. X
