I started Evorel Conti a few weeks ago but haven't noticed any difference re. position of patches other than not putting one on my backside because it doesn't stick there.

Hi I'm new to this forum. I changed from femeston 1/10 a couple of months ago. My GP prescribed Femseven conti for me as I am 54 now. However it was unavailable and I was then prescribed Evorel sequi instead.
The patches seem to suit me better than pills but I've been back to low mood and tearfulness in the conti patches.
Anyone relate to this? Any advice?

Hi Sammas,  I started on everol sequi and used both tummy and thighs, can't say I noticed a difference. On Everol 75 for the last week but only had it on thighs. I suppose it is possible depending on individual absorption etc. that you might feel worse but difficut to evaluate that as it could be a flare up of symptoms that coincided with the change of patch position. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Hi Sammas

I've been wondering the same thing!

I use Estradot 100mcg and I find a real difference happens between sides. I use it just in front of my right hip, low on my tummy, and I feel quite good most of the time. When I put it on the left hand side, I can't sleep, the flushes and mood swings come back (not as bad, but noticeable).

I had two Caesarean sections to deliver my children - my uterus ruptured with the first one (we're all lucky to be here and I was lucky they could save it tbh) and I was wondering if the scarring was worse inside on one side or the other which might be a possible reason for poorer absorption.

I don't know what it is, but I've noticed it myself, so you're not alone or going mad xx

Hi Sammas

There is a known difference in absoprtion depending on where you put the patch - this has been mesaured to some extent. It will depend on the thickness of the skin and possibly on fat content of the skin layer too (not sure about this) as well as being variable generally between different individual women. There is likely to be better absorption on average on the front abdomen from what I've read but depends also where on thigh. The inner thigh has thinner skin so this may also absorb well. Also re your side effects which patch did you notice these changes on - was it the Evorel 50 or the Evorel conti part of the cycle?

Hi Harebell

 :welcomemm:

Sorry to hear about your side effects. It may well be that you don't tolerate the progestogen part very well and unfortunately there is no other combi patch available at the moment. Try it for 3 months in total and see if you acclimatise?

In what way do you feel the patches suit you better? If you prefer this method of delivery then the only other alternative is to go for separate oestrogen patches ( eg Evorel 50) together with a progestogen such as Provera tablets, or progesteron (Utrogestan) capsules ( which can also be used vaginally off-licence), or a Mirena coil.

If none of these appeal then is there any reason not to go back to Femoston?

Hi Hurdity

Thank you for your reply. It certainly feels good to have some advice and support. Sometimes feels like I'm floundering in the dark these last couple of years since the flushes first kicked off.

I am on my second box now and will take your advice and complete the the three months worth that I was given. I'm sort of dreading tomorrow as it's the conti or ‘crying' patch as I call it. But as you say maybe I'll get used to it.

I'll be making an appointment with my gp this week and so will have the options you suggested in mind. I don't think I'd like to go back to femeston as I somehow feel less anxious about being on patches than when on pills. I feel more like my old self somehow. Quite hard to explain how I feel maybe I'm imagining it! I was also sick of taking tablets anyway.

Harebell, I'm on Evorel Sequi too. Am month 3, and have just put on the 'crying patch'. Last month I couldn't do the full 2 weeks, but as I had already started to bleed, I skipped the last patch (so only did 11 days conti). This is my first attempt at HRT. I'm 46 and was thrust into peri after having 1 ovary removed.
But I ask, why, oh why, are you on Sequi,  when your Dr originally wanted you on the Femiston Conti patches, and you are 54 ??

Hi pants46

Oh you're just a youngster! I hope this works for you and sorry to hear you were thrust into peri.

I agree that I should have been prescribed evorel conti.  I couldn't see my usual GP that day when I found out my prescription was unavailable. I saw someone else.

I didn't realise until I got home that perhaps she had prescribed the wrong one. But then I thought well I'll try it anyway because at least this way I will know how I feel on the evorel 50 and the Conti patch.

I am happier on the evorel 50 definitely. I'm not keen on the norethsiterone in the conti patch.  I started out on elleste duet and my gp changed me to femeston as my mood was low during the progesterone pills.

Not sure what next but all in all I can sleep and I don't have flushes which I really couldn't stand.

Hi Hurdity

I have got another prescription for Evorel sequi which has been ok for me. Although I would like to try femseven when it is available.

I am ok on the evorel but I seem to be getting spots around chin mouth area. Which I did not have on the femeston.

Any advice would be appreciated.
