Hi Pink68 & Jools1x, I also have under active thyroid and been on thyroxine for almost 20 years. I originally went to GP with flushes, sweats, insomnia & feeling overwhelmed. I thought early menopause (was 37yr at the time) but told no by GP following blood tests (which I now know are not reliable) then referred to Endocrinology who ccouldn't find anything other than a random raised histamine in my urine so sent to Immunology, again lots of weird & wonderful tests & trials of medications. Eventually discharged by Immunology, so desperate was thinking of going private to get answers then made a appointment which happened to be with a trainee GP, she was lovely and listened to all I had to say. She reassured me she would discuss it with her supervisior (senior GP in the practice) she phoned me back & said we think it's the menopause. After 3 years of this I was relieved to have an answer but also annoyed it had gone on so long & that I could have been on HRT for years before now (I'm 10 weeks in on Everol sequi 50 following GP discussing it with menopause specialist, he had started me on Fluoxetine first, has helped with flushes & definately mood & energy levels much better) especially given strong famiy history of osteoperosis.
I hope you both get improvement in your symptoms & start to feel normal again.
