Duvet Togs ??
« on: May 22, 2019, 07:48:34 PM »

Ladies. I can't sleep without being under covers (long and sad story ... which I won't go into), but of course now I'm getting hot and bothered at night, as the temperature goes up.
I currently have a duvet that's 10.5 tog. And I've been looking at the M&S website, they have 1, 3, and 4.5 togs.
Can anybody recommend a tog level ?
Thanks. xx

we have an All Seasons duvet. Basically two duvets that velcro together. One is 4.5 and the other is 10.5.  So a total of 15 togs.  At the moment we are sleeping under the 4.5 togs with a crochet blanket over the top. I love the full 15 togs in winter but hubby finds it too much.

I have 15, 9 and 4.5 but if it's really hot I use just the empty duvet cover, I like to have something over me  :)

Funnily enough I've been looking at fans, I'm trying to decide between the usual round version or a tower fan for the bedroom, I'm going to get one soon so I'll have it when the weather warms up.

Hi Pants.
I have a 10.5 tog duvet on at the mo.
It's only an hollow fibre one though, and I also have a throw at the bottom of the bed.
I don't have sweats anymore, so this works well for me...
The best ones are the feather ones, (which I did have, but my son nicked it from me...)🤨😆
These are heavier too, which is what I like....
The higher the tog, the warmer the duvet....xx

Mine is similar to this one. i use the 10.5 in winter and the 4.5 in summer. i have never actually need the full weight with them joined together.

Thanks ladies.
Maybe I'll go for a 3 tog. Although I may wait to see what Dotty says about the 1 tog. I can't do feathers though ... they make my eyes itchy.
TwoHoots, I have a tower fan next to the bed. But I've had to jack it up on a shoe box. If you can put a round fan on a bedside table, that might be a good idea. If not, go for the tower, but find something to raise it up. I used to use a pile of books.
I had a bit of a panic a couple of weeks ago, and bought a 2nd tower fan for downstairs and a 2nd portable air conditioning machine. The one I got 10 years ago for the cat has been a life saver (my house is a sun trap, and I don't like having windows open at night, being on my own). But it's too big for me to get it up the stairs. So the new one is smaller and will stay upstairs.
This meno thing is really rather expensive !! xx

We use a 4.5 all year round but when the weather is really hot I just use a sheet these days I cann't be too hot in bed as it makes me cough and it's starts off night sweats.
The bedroom and bathroom windows are also open all year round
