Bleeding with Evorel Sequi
« on: April 23, 2019, 02:24:01 PM »

Hi everyone, newbie here.

I am 53 and started Evorel Sequi two years ago. Mostly it has been fine and I have had few side effects. However for the last few months I have had erratic bleeding. I am OK with the estrogen patches but when I switch to the estrogen and progesterone patches, I start to bleed after two patches (just as I go to stick on patch 3 of 4 of the combi patches). I thought I would bleed at the end of the pack when I withdrew the progesterone but no! So I have this bleeding from week 3 until the end of the cycle and when I start a new pack with just estrogen, the bleeding gets heavier. It means that I am bleeding every month for 10 - 14 days and I am now sick of it.

I've had irregular periods all my life so to get frequent periods now at the age of 53 is annoying. I have a GP appointment this week and I want to have some options to discuss. I have also read that many HRT preps are out of stock so that will limit what I can change to.

Does anyone know whether a higher dose of estrogen would do the trick? Or a long cycle HRT prep?

Thanks

Hi..I also bleed on week 3 of my evorel sequi patch. Although not heavy it does last at least a week. But I was wildly irregular before I went on patches so this is at least predictable for me ! 😁

Hi, Im 49, 3yrs postmenopausal and 6months on everol sequi.I am also bleeding earlier than I'd have expected on this HRT. I start bleeding on day 21/22 and can be very heavy and although lighter on some of the days it can be heavier again on others. I then still have bleed when changing to patch no 1 again too. Last month I bleed for 16 days! This cant be right. Trip to gp required I think as getting fed up with it all.

Ladies - it may be worth switching to a different HRT regime.  Perhaps have oestrogen as either gel or patch and take a progesterone for 12-14 days orally - some women even use Utrogestan vaginally with great success.  If Utrogestan doesn't suit you, then many women seem to do well with Provera.  Look under TREATMENTS to see the options and print things off to show your doctor as many GPs are poorly informed when it comes to HRT options.

The best HRT regime I ever had was having a Mirena fitted and then used Oestrogel alongside( you could use Estradot patches) - after the first few weeks I was bleed free (very occasionally I got a bit of spotting) and this combo was the least hassle and the fewest side effects as well.  DG x
