What to expect?.....

Hi, can anyone give some advice about what I may (or may not) expect when I have a 3 day break from Utrogestan? This is my first month of taking it and I should take it for 1 - 25 days. I stopped taking it 2 days ago & I was expecting a “bleed “, but nothing has happened- is this a good, bad or normal thing?🤔 tonight is the last night without taking it, then I start again tomorrow night. Thanks 😘

The bleed should begin around 3 to 4 days after stopping it.
Dotty. Do you still get a bleed if you don't have a break?

Hi Dotty,
I am not post menopause though, not sure if that matters?🤔
I've been reading some posts here about how Utrogestan/progesterone can cause real tiredness- I'm feeling that now 🙈 only been taking it for 4 weeks, will this get worse?🤔 I hope not!😫 xx

Hi I'm not sure if someone had said this to you before but if you are not post menopause you should be taking the Utrogestan from days 15-26 of your cycle. I apologise if you have already explained why you are taking it for 25 days. X

Hi LouLou I've just read your posts and see that you have been 9 months without a period, so you may get away with taking the post menopause dose of Utrogestan. If you are not far enough on in your menopause journey and you take the Utrogestan continuously or for 25 days then you may get irregular bleeding. X

Hi Dotty,
What is the post menopause dose? I was advised to take it (Utrogestan) for 1 -25 days by my GP. I am feeling SO tired, it's ridiculous 😫🙈 is this the progesterone causing this?🤔 I am on day 4 and still not had a bleed & supposed to start taking it again tonight for another 25 days 😏 I'm so confused 🤷♀️ I felt so good initially, now 4 weeks in, I'm starting to have doubts 😏 xx

Hi LouLou
The post menopause dose is Utrogestan for days 1-25 with a 3 day break. However, menopause specialists are now advising to take the Utrogestan every day. They say it's easier to do it this way as you don't have to remember which day to start it again.
This is tajken from the treatments page of this website:
UTROGESTAN Micronised progesterone 100mg at bedtime from day 1 to 25 of each 28 day cycle, though taken every day is often recommended.
The peri menopause dosage is 200mg from days 15-26 of your cycle.
If you are taking it for 25 days then it is unlikely that you will bleed, unless your own hormones are coming into play. As I said in a previous post, you might get away with the post meno dosage as you are 9 months without period.
Progesterone can cause tiredness. I am fine on it and I have no problems. Were you tired before you started the hrt? x

Thanks Dotty😘 so I'm on the post menopause dose (days 1-25)
No I didn't have the extreme tiredness that I have now before I started the HRT, despite not sleeping!
I've only noticed this tiredness in the last week (didn't have it for the 1st 3 weeks of taking Utrogestan) and I have just had a flu virus 😏 I'm hoping it's just a temporary thing 🤔 could I increase my oestrogen dose to 3 pumps a day, I wonder if that would help?🤔🤷♀️

Yes days 1-25 is the post menopause dose.
It sounds to me as if your tiredness may be caused by being poorly with flu.
How long have you been using the Oestrogel? It's advisable to stay on the same dose for quite a while before increasing the dose. Is it helping your other symptoms? X
