Jaw ache
« on: April 09, 2019, 08:52:06 AM »

Hi ladies I am hoping someone can help me , Iam so fed up with this per hell. I feel it's one thing after another, lately I have been experiencing pain on the side of my left jaw which seems to get worse in bed, I then feel my throat dry, neck and shoulder muscles start to get tense then I can sleep for the pain.
My periods at the moment are irregular , longest time between has been 58 days. At the moment my period is 5 days late. I have dry lady bits , night sweats, fatigue, joint pain, thinning hair, brittle nails and generally just feeling rubbish.
My GP has given me Everol sequin to start even though bloods came back normal for hormones.
Do you think I should just start the HRT? Is this type okay for a starter HRT?
Sorry for the rant, I am just feeling so fed up with it all and don't know where to turn for help and advice. 😞 X

Are any of you on hrt ? Would this help with the anxiety? X

As oestrogen levels drop off so muscles may become lax  -  so your jaw may well lack elasticity.  Also sleeping with Gob Wide Open won't help.  I get the ache sometimes as well as a sudden nip, deep in the ear  :o

Also, keep an eye on posture, especially of shoulders and neck. Letting your shoulders hunch, jutting your throat forwards leads to neck and jaw tension.  Look at pilates and Alexander technique - a good contemporary dance teacher is sometimes helpful too.  When I remember to rearrange my self, I can feel little muscles kicking in and the tension flow away - at least momentarily  ::)

The posture thing needs to be addressed all through your body.

Hi I had the same problem three years ago. Had mri which didn't flag up anything. I would suggest you see a massage therapist who is familiar with myofacial release. This involves massaging jaw area and neck. My jaw was so tight. After this treatment everything loosened off and I was given massage techniques to do myself. Improved 100% since then. Hope you get sorted

Yup, definitely worth checking this out with your dentist. I had exactly the same pain.

I've also cracked two fillings, chipped bits off the back of my two front teeth and cracked a molar so far down into the gum that it had to come out.

I now wear a mouth guard from the dentist. Pain gone and no more damage to my teeth.

It's subconscious (so my dentist told me), and all the meditation/relaxation in the world won't stop you doing it while you're asleep. It's called TMJ Disorder and grinding your teeth at night is called Bruxism.

Hia!

Starting this post with a caveat, I'm not saying you have this but thought it wouldn't be good not to at least flag it up for everyone to be aware.

Some times jaw pain can be a sign of an impending heart attack in women. Women present with different symptoms to men. They can get pain in the below places or no pain.

Jaw pain
Neck pain
Back pain between shoulder blades
Indigestion type pain

As I said I'm no expert, just wanted to get this out there somehow.
