No, in fact the opposite. Joints much better and no anxiety. I use Testogel, 1 sachet over 10 days.

Anjia, I got my first prescription from an NHS menopause clinic, then GP put it on my repeat prescriptions. I hope your GP will be co-operative, some are. Good luck! Let us know what they say.

As long as you start low and slow and don't be tempted to increase if you don't see immediate results. Like Joaniepat I first went to a private gynae and now get it on NHS but she (gynae) said it could take 4-5 months to see full effects. Never had any anxiety from it....

How is your libido/response. If this is fine then T won't help the muscle aches as this would be the first thing to go. If you take ADs or other meds libido can be depressed so you wouldn't have this as an indication of low T in which case go for it!!! Have you had thyroid function checked and are your vit/mineral levels good ie good mixed balanced diet?

I've just applied androfeme for the first time this evening.  I found it really difficult to fill the little syringe.  Has anyone got any tips for that.

I've been prescribed testosterone because of low libido and lack of sensitivity.  Just hoping this helps.

Hi xjb

The first time I used  it, I just emptied the syringe onto my finger, took a pic of it, and then used the pic as a guide to squeeze that much out each time thereafter.

Hope that makes sense

Thanks jeepers but no cream would go into the syringe.  The tube seemed ado airtight nothing would come out.  I'll have another go tonight

I re-read the instructions,  the important bit was squeezing the tube so cream was coming out then attach the syringe... it worked!

I noticed there was a link to video instructions. That is good. Thank you.

Just hope the testosterone will do what i want it to do!

I'll keep people posted.

I have restarted using Testim gel.  Like some of you on here, I have gone private over the years, but I'm back to a fabulous menopause clinic in Oxford.  I have had all kinds of other tests done... so I'm okay with vitamins, minerals thyroid yes...

My perfect levels of oestrogen (only, due to hysterectomy ten years ago) is a 50 mcg Estrodot patch. I'm back to patches, as I found gel far to messy and a faff to be honest.  50 mcg seems to be the best level for me as I am very small/slim and if I have too much, I get the side effects that are listed.

Just over a week ago I introduced a tiny pea sized amount of the Testim gel.  I'd used it over a year ago but gave up on it at that time because I noticed an increase in neck pain (yes, I know it's not supposed to do that... however).

What I have noticed this time is that almost immediately, my hair condition was back to bouncy and shiny, I was sleeping beautifully and the cellulite that I had with oestrogel, along with the fluid retention, went after 3 days. It really was quite something.  Anxiety went....I never had that much anxiety before, but just enough to bother me.

Now, here's my point for posting this.    Yes, T gel isn't supposed to make you feel sleepy, but in addition to sleeping a full 8 hours.. fantastic... I could sleep, standing up, all day long.     I emailed my menopause doctor this morning and of course she just quoted facts, that I already knew.  But, some women are exceptions to the rule and react differently to hormones.

I wondered if any of you had felt this sleepiness when first starting T gel.  Yes, I know it's meant to give you more energy by the way... haha.   Libido has improved, not that I have a partner... grrr.

Hi Hoffgrad

I can't say that I've noticed this but I've been sleepy for years anyway! In fact when I first went to the doc maybe 5 years ago or more complaining about tiredness ( and muscle aches and pains) I wanted to try T - as I knew it was supposed to be energising.

However I started T in 2015 and although the libido (or rather response!) has improved 1000 % ( ::)), and the abnormal muscles aches and pains after exercise have abated to some extent - I am sleepier than ever - but mainly in the morning. I sleep very very deeply (used to be a light sleeper) and can't wake up in the mornings. Maybe T has made this worse - but can't say as I am older anyway - not that that should make me sleep more - I thought we were meant to sleep less with age!

I haven't looked too much into it but I seem to lack the proper cortisol awakening response. Maybe you do too - although sounds like you are sleepy in the day too. When you say normal thyroid - have you had your actual readings? Mine has been almost 3 (TSH anyway) which could contribute. The private gynae I went to see in 2015 (now sadly retired) was an endocrinologist and said she would try me on a low dose of thyroxine of some sort if the tiredness didn't disappear after starting T - but never got the option to test this out. Would only want to do this under close medical supervision and unfortunately on NHS, thyroid conditions (as well as testosterone deficiency) are abysmally diagnosed, treated and monitored so much of the female middle-aged population with these issues get fobbed off with fibromyalgia, ME, CFS etc and patted on the head with a "there there" and left to suffer for the rest of their lives!!!

Long and short of it - I sympathise but have no idea what the cause could be!

I have an idea that T makes me more hungry - at least I am very hungry these days, and also prone to weight gain (fat) more easily. I feel that unless you take execrise to build muscle while taking T, then weight (fat) gain could be the result - but haven't read this anywhere! That's off your point a bit but just some added thoughts!

So, if you take Testosterone, does it increase the unwanted body hair? Just curious if it makes the chin worse?

Weird I know, but T has actually got rid of most of mine, and the couple I have left are very slow growing, and much finer - go figure?
