Newbie in surgical menopause
« on: March 21, 2019, 04:06:46 PM »

Hi everyone.

My name is Amy, I'm 31 years old and am now journeying into surgical menopause.

I had a total hysterectomy in 2015 following abnormal cells and slight endometriosis.

In 2017 I had my left ovary removed following a torsion.

Unfortunately 4 days ago the same happened to my right ovary which led to my last ovary being removed.

I am now in surgical menopause and am taking oestrogen HRT. I am looking to find support and friendship through this forum as I begin my menopause journey x

Hey Amy.
I'm new to this site as well. I had my left ovary removed 8 weeks ago, and being a bit older than you, it's pushed me into peri.
All the ladies on here are really nice and very helpful.
Do take the time to look for the positive stories. They are really uplifting. And join in the general chit chat ... some of the stuff the ladies say makes me laugh out loud.
Best, Pants.

Hi AmyB

:welcomemm: but sorry to hear you've started on this journey at such a young age. There is an organisation called the Daisy Network for early menopausers which I think is mainly for women who have Premature Ovarian Failure but I am sure a lot of what is written may be applicable to you as well and the women will be younger than most of us on here - although there are some others also quite young here too. You have to join for some features but the basic info is open access.

I hope you will manage to get the right dose of oestrogen to minimise the impact of your menopause and also in the future or even sooner you might benefit from testosterone replacement too as the ovaries are a major source of androgen production.

We cna help you along the way - as well as pants and jaypo say - have a laugh.

As for "Best, Pants"  -  ;D  I would never have seen this - surely deliberate? If not, even funnier !!!

Hi Amy

Welcome.  It's so important you get the right advice regarding hrt.  Make sure you're not overlooked with progesterone too.  Although your endometriosis wasn't bad you still may need some progesterone

I think you needing testosterone too is more likely than not,  you've got years ahead of you and need all your missing hormones replaced

I had premature ovarian failure at 32 following a hysterectomy and didn't really have any support back then, but fortunately I did have a great gp who saw to my every need
