Me & My Menopausal Vagina
« on: March 07, 2019, 03:14:18 PM »

So what a couple of days. Wish I could upload a photo as last night I gave a talk to a 100ish ladies a few men on VA 😳🤦‍♀️😎.
The photo last night was a giant screen with my book about 6ft on it, on the Thames with St Paul's to the right. Night before was Canary Wharf.

It was part of an event for menopause/ minds at work.

Diane Danzibrink & Kathy Abernathy BMS chair where there along with the ladies of positive pause.

I was first to talk 😳 I was nervous & probably spoke to fast, but feed back is great everyone now knows what a vulva / vagina/ VA/ LS & vulva cancer are. 😳the word vulva makes people squirm. But I DID it.🤗

Kathy recommends my book when she gives talks so that is great, A GP has emailed me this am as her GP friend wants one.

It's sold out ATM more due in any day, as I got caught out as it was recommended in the Daily Mail as a good read by a breast surgeon now patient who suffers from VA, and the medical profession are definitely helping get word out for which I am hugely grateful, along with Diane & Sam Evans.

Sold out in OZ in a few days & they want more. Women's health physios love it.

I'm giving another talk on Sunday in Birmingham to women's health physios, & guess what the FIRST menopause workshop for the pelvic floor off of the back of my book 🤗.

Next will be an audio book, daughter hopefully will do this but I have had someone ask to do it as they think it has big potential.

It's now available via Waterstones on line & order in shops.

Slowly slowly catch a monkey but VA WILL be known about, the emails I get now from around the world are heart breaking some of them & I have NOT had one negative still ( not that I want it as I was dreading it but still ).

So that's my update. Yes it's odd but someone had to do it.

I feel everyone who went to both evenings talks, left with sound evidence based knowledge NOT media propaganda & ultimately it's all about informed choice.

Also meeting with a GP next week who wants me to give a talk to her practice.

I apologise now for any mistakes I will have made. 🙄

Not odd at all Jane! What you're doing is absolutely Fantastic!

Your book really struck a chord with me and we only have to read the posts on this forum to see how big an issue this is and how difficult it is to access treatment. By educating ourselves through your book, videos etc we are able to begin the process of finding a medical professional who is BOTH willing AND able to offer appropriate treatment. Thats often extraordinarily difficult.

Keep doing what you're doing Jane  :thankyou:

 :medal:   :congrats:

I have found another book club at a garden centre so will leave one of my copies there with 'instructions'  ;D.

How are you coping with any pre-talk nerves?   My last talk in front of 11 ladies all aged over 80  ::) was about PAT-dogs.  I said 'yes' and as I put the 'phone down that morning thought "WHAT HAVE I DONE?"  It was actually quite enjoyable.   ::)

Did you watch the recent programme '100 vaginas' ?

I was fine until 10 mins before then my hands went cold & clamy plus had a microphone to hold.

Love pat dogs 🐶.

Yes I watched a 100 vulvas, she has been on women's hour etc.

Thank you so much re GC I bet they go 😳 with the title 🤦‍♀️. I had 4 local ladies come round mine this am, all have VA quite bad & all local they are on my VA FB page. Small world & you don't know who's suffering. 🥴

How many ladies do you know through this venture, those that you never dreamed would be suffering or admit to symptoms?

Once you open up, more than you realise.

Statistics are about 70% Dr Newson & only about 7% go to their GP as such a taboo subject.

I wonder how many ladies from ethnic backgrounds wouldn't attend the Nurse/GP because they have to have a chaperone ........ in the same way as children from these background are being diagnosed with rickets, do they simply not attend Surgeries?  Therefore there may be a higher % not getting help?

Hi! did U watch Davina on Thursday evening?

I feel a Campaign approaching  ;D.  Are U able to remind me how to get leaflets so that I can begin issuing them in appropriate places: bus stops, under bridges, on car windscreens ........ I jest of course.

It's a couple of years since I delivered any to our GP Surgery - no response at all! as well as taking a copy of the book and leaflets to both the Care Home and Surgery that oversees the residents on a weekly basis.  Again: no response  :bang:

Hi CLKD,

I think MaryJane  has left social media since last year and the last I heard is that she was working with Diane Danzibrink .
