Need to let off steam how dare she
« on: March 06, 2019, 04:58:31 PM »

Hi all
just had a phone call from my local hospital about a referral for a gynae appointment I knew nothing about. My GP whom I last saw in November last year  and no gynae problems mentioned took it upon herself to refer me. All i could find out was the specialists name whom I saw privately in Dec this year but apparently according to my gp this was in June last year. No mention was ever made to me about a follow up referral. If i needed one I would have liked to have been told.
I would have done this privately again with Mr Warren myself not be taken completely unaware and totally annoyed at her lack of profesionalism. Right now steam coming out of my ears and never want to see her again.
Sorry just needed to vent all is going so well with my HRT which I only started in January

Maybe ask to see the records?  Check with the Practice Manager?

N Hi all feeling calmer this morning. lol
No reason was given to me for the referral and practice secretary is supposed to be phoning me today.
However what the hospital did say was it was for Mr Warren my private doc to follow up an appointment I had there in June last year. I could not have had an appointment there with him in June or July as I was in Spain. so totally baffled and I last saw Mr Warren at the Spire in August and have spoken to him since. I have never had any dealing with him through the NHS.
Oh well hopefully light will be shed on it today.  But I have no faith what so ever in the GP anymore as she was the one who told me I was intollerant to Oestrogen??? and would not refer me to see meno specialist at the NHS hospital hence my going private.  Also told me after I had seen Mr Warren that I would have to stop at age 55??? and gave me an incorrect dosage of Vagifem. Tols me every day for a week then twice a week and stop??? I know from this site that is not enough.
So after my conversation today I will be changing my GP.

I saw Mr Warren at the beginning of my menopause journey about 18nths ago and he only does private at the Spire  hospital which is such a shame as I found him brilliant. I saw Mr Morris at the menopause clinic at n&n and didn't find him so understanding!

Well spoken to gp surgery, not at all happy. :'(
My dr decided that as Mr Warren wanted me to have a blood test every 6 months and to send him the results for him to review. That she would just refer me to nhs hospital instead apparently she dosnt want me taking testosterone so will not prescribe it.
Am now appealing and awaiting a call back from Mr Warren.
She didnt have the guts to tell me herself. >:(

I can understand where the GP is coming from >ducks<.  You have chosen to go privately so in reality the NHS should not pick up blood tests etc. neither should the GP be involved.  When I had breast surgery I was charged a tenner to have the stitch removed.  I could have done it myself for nowt!

If a Consultant suggests treatment some GPs still won't prescribe particularly if the patient has been seen privately.  However, it is easier sometimes if the private Consultant also treats NHS patients ............

I would speak to Mr Warren's secretary, explain the situation and ask how much the blood tests will cost.

CLKD If you read Fairlady's post you will see her doc refused to refer her to an NHS meno speicialist despite being totally lacking in expertise herself.

Fairlady - if she will now refer you to the NHS clinic then you have nothing to lose - and at least if the doc there recommends blood tests hopefully your GP will then oblige. In the meantime I hope you have enough HRT to last you without having to resort to private treatment otherwise you are within your rights to at least get prescribed the licensed products from your GP through NHS, even if not testosterone...

There is plenty of info about the correct dosing of Vagifem so no excuse for your GP to refuse to continue with this!

Well the plot thickens spoken to Mr Warrens secretary this morning and no communication has been made with my GP since November last year.  She is confused as to why she has chosen to refer me to NHS as this has never been requested by MR Warren infact totally the opposite.
Dont understand why I was lied to tbh.
Although I have now booked my last appointment with Mr Warren to get all this mess ironed out as i
he retire is the summer :(

Oh no!  Suggest that rather than retiring that he spends a year visiting GPs to explain menopause ...........  ;).  Maybe he should write a book!

I wonder if your GP has got you muddled with someone  :-X :-\

Hi all been mulling this over all weekend not sure if it is worth making a formal complaint.
Turns out GP had a query with Dr Warren and asked practice manager to check it out. This she did with the NHS advise line, BUT this is where it all went wrong they advised I should have a review based on me taking testosterone for a year (which is not the case) It has only been 5 months. So without checking with me or my GP she went ahead and referred me without my consent or knowledge to see Mr Warren on the NHS. First I know if it is a call arranging an appointment to see a gynae of which of course I knew nothing about. Call to surgery told she has a letter from Mr Warren asking to review (which I said was odd as I usually get a copy) said it would have been nice to be told before the referral and she apologised. I then said that I have not been on testosterone for long was this necessary. She said consult Mr Warren. This I did and was told no correspondence has ever been made since November (which I knew about) And he would not have given a specific response over the phone just a general one. Now annoyed and confused phone practice manager back she then says no letter??? but a phone call to NHS advice line as to which I said but MR Warren is private just look at my records. Why did she insist she had a letter??  If they had all bothered to communicate with me none of this would have happened. Really fed up with my treatment from them through this whole menopause saga.
Sorry for the long thread but not sure if it is worth complaining  :( dont like to complain but dont want this to ever happen to me or anyone else again.

Complaining is soul destroying.   You may never get to the reasons why this happened.  Other than speaking with the Practice Manager and looking at your records at the Surgery, this may simply rumble on.  Is it worth mental stress?
