Switching HRT advise
« on: February 27, 2019, 11:54:32 AM »

Hello
I really hope someone can help me.  I was on Everol50 for three months and by the third month I was feeling great again.  No headaches, sleeping better, no longer felt rage over nothing. However, the patches were giving me a rash so my doctor suggested I switch to tablets instead. I am now a month and a half in and I feel like I did before I started HRT.  I was overly emotional yesterday, headaches are back, feeling hot and waking up in the night.  Could it be that I just need to give these tablets the full three months to adjust? I can't remember what the tablets are (I'm at work) but the doctor tried to match me up with something as close as possible to Everol.
Really hoping that I just need to give it time...

I was on everol patches but decided to give tablets a try but like you they gave me headaches also tried gel which just didn't seem to work at all.  Back on patches but I also get a bit of an itchy rash under the patch and when removed the skin stays red for days, I just try to alternate sides/area I stick it etc.  Was the rash localised and unbearable?  Patches are absorbed differently to tablets supposed to be better for the system.

Jeps, I also had an allergic reaction to Evorel but there are several Oestrogen only patches you could try instead if you prefer patches. I prefer Estradot as they are much smaller, stick well and no irritation for me. There is also Estraderm and FemSeven. Both are Evorel size I think. The allergic reaction seems to be due to the type of adhesive so it's worth trying others before you give up on them I would think.

Thanks all

Maybe I'll wait for three months and check that the tablets don't work then switch back to a patch - thanks for the tips, the rash only seemed to occur on the oestrogen side and it was red raw sometimes.

What I really hope is that I adjust to the tablets like I did the patches... wishful thinking maybe.
