Dr Bose - 92 Harley Street..... has anybody had a Consultation
« on: February 13, 2019, 05:09:57 PM »

Hi All,

Just wondering if anybody has been to see a Dr. Bose, Gynachologist from 92 Harley Street, and if so, how did they get on.  I think my only option is to have proper blood tests done which will tell me exactly where my hormones are at.  My appointment is on 5th March.  I just need to sort my depression.   Fortunately that is the only complaint I have with menopause, and I know some of the members suffer terribly.  I think I would much prefer to have hot flushes than this.

Any feedback would be welcome.

Unfortunately nightmare I cannot help you with this as I've got all my help from the nhs.  Like you though my main symptoms were mood related rather than hot flushes. Are you currently on any hrt? I have found oestrogen helps massively x

Hi nightmare,

like you my only really problematic menopause symptoms are mood-based - depression and anxiety - but they are devastating, I'd far rather be suffering from physical stuff like hot flushes, this has destroyed my life. Unfortunately it does seem that mood problems are much more difficult to tackle with HRT than the physical ones, many women end up on anti-depressants even though the source of the problem is hormonal. I know nothing about this particular dr, but it's helpful to be aware that if he recommends blood tests you don't have to pay his prices, you can ask him to write to your GP and and get them done on the NHS. Good luck x

Hi Racjen,

I too would so much prefer to be suffering with the physical stuff as depression depletes everything... everything I do on a day to day basis is so difficult and such a struggle. I dare ask but how long have you been struggling with your symptoms.  I am on AD's but they are not lifiting my mood.

I'm a bit of a weird case, as I seem to be the only woman on here suffering from a sudden menopause brought about by chemotherapy for breast cancer. I've been suffering from depression and anxiety for getting on for two years, but part of my problems have been caused by the fact that I can't tolerate ADs, so I've had a few crises which have been down to the treatment rather than the menopause itself. Still looking for a hormonal combination that alleviates acute morning anxiety and stabilises my mood though...
