Anyone finding it difficult to get Vagifem? I'm having to ring round chemists.  My surgery usually dispenses my Vagifem but they are out of stock and not sure if their suppliers have any!!!!

IS this down to a bigger demand due to an ageing population that are finally being given the correct treatment for their vaginal and bladder atrophy problems or is this down to Brexit??
OR are we women not a priority for the NHS and they perceive urogenital atrophy as simply a quality of life problem - after all women have been putting up with this for many generations so why are we making a fuss!!

Sorry for the RANT, I'm feeling very down about everything at the moment - I suspect I'm not alone in feeling despondent over Brexit - what an dreadful mess.

I bought a packet of Vagifem when I was in Gran Canaria in December and I'm very relieved I did - I now wish I'd bought 2 packets.  My bladder and awful burning returns very quickly without the Vagifem.

I phoned my local chemist and they phoned their suppliers and YES there is a supply problem!!!! They have put in an order and will let me know when Vagifem is available.  DG x

Bugga ........... Brexit again?  Which excuse would it be this time!

It is known that the NHS doesn't like to pay full price to the Manufacturers so it may be that we are coming up the Financial Year when things tradiaonnaly become in 'short supply' .......... Pharmacists need to be more honest with the public.

Sorry to hear you're having problems I managed to get my scrip filled a couple of weeks ago.

Just out of interest can you rember how much you paid in Gran Canaria as I'm off to Lanzarote soon and may buy some while there as a back up.

Our GP surgery told my OH a couple months ago that ‘things that are not serious ‘ are NOT being given out anymore.! Ie, vaginal soap free washes, dry eye drops, ect, non essential items, as they put it....!!! Due to cut backs........

Or is the vagifem just a manufacturing issue?

I agree with that jillydoll. When my friends mum died she found enough aqueous cream and cotton wool rolls in her house to stock a shop. Every time her mum got an automatic repeat prescription for essential drugs the pharmacy also supplied her with EVERYTHING on her darned repeat list. That's what brings the NHS down.

Vagifem doesn't fall into the non essential category though!!

Something  i noticed on my GP website today is that patients are not allowed to request repeat HRT prescriptions. They have to see a nurse each time. I assume they mean systemic HRT as I can request a repeat Vagifem.
Each time i go to Boots to collect my repeat, they ask me which things i need next time and tick boxes on the printout.

I have looked at our GP Surgery web-sites and another local one and it says nowt about prescriptions, other than how to order on-line which I did until they altered their software  - now I can't access it at all, it won't take the old e-mail addy and keeps telling me that the password is already taken.  Which means that I have to walk to the Surgery to get my repeats signed  : all of 10 mins. walk

Can't believe they ask if you still need vagifem.  It makes you wonder what's going on between their ears!

My local chemist is out of stock - I am being advised to use ovestin in the meantime but I don't like it 🙄

The fillers in Ovestin make my urethra burn horribly.
If Brexit goes badly and supplies of any hormone treatment dry up for some time,  then we may have to get someone in Spain to send us what we need. I'm very relieved I bought some while I was on holiday. DG x
