Refused on the NHS
« on: February 07, 2019, 04:22:11 PM »

Anyone know what the guidelines are for Professor Studd's regime for Estrogel and Utrogestan on the NHS only my doctor has said they don't offer them on the NHS anymore and so I need to go visit them (I'm housebound the dicks) to seek an alternative. Yeah as if that's going to happen.  Looks like I'm ringing the Prof again for another appointment. But I swear it is offered on the NHS though... can anyone enlighten me again?

Thanks ladies. Nearly lost my temper with the idiot on reception today because of it.

Good afternoon puddlesmum

My NHS prescription shows Oestrogel Pump -Pack 0.06% gel 240 gram (Oestrogel version please not Oestrodose version please) that's on the prescription as I don't get on with Oestrodose.
I don't use Utrogestan but I think it's in the book GPs refer too as micronised progesterone rather than Utrogestan.
It may be worth trying your GP again.

Good luck

Well I get mine on the NHS and I've never gone private.  My consultant at the meno clinic agreed it and my testosterone ...and my GP' prescriber lady in the practice issued the prescriptions no bother.  Don't they just make you want to scream Puddlemum
 :beat:

The oestrogel is pretty easy to find in the book but Lanza could well be right, Utrogestan is not listed as its trade name but micronised progesterone

Give Prof Studd's office a ring and explain.  Maybe he can speak with your Surgery on the premise "I need to clarify that my patient requires "  ;)

I had to get a consultant to prescribe my Sandrena and Utrogestan, as my GP said
they couldn't prescribe it without a consultants say so.
It came up on their computer as a Red Flag apparently in Birmingham.

Puddles  I had the same issue as jillydoll.
Gp said only consultant could prescribe it . I'm under  nhs gynae  consultant. Gp told me to get the consultant to put in writing everything I need or might need going forward e.g increase of dose, adding testosterone.
Interestingly when the nurse phoned me from the gynae clinic about an appointment a couple of days ago I mentioned the issues with GP and she said. "Oh dear these GP's. We are constantly facing issues around this"

Just to let you know you are not alone In this. I don't yet have the answer. I wish I did.
