I was originally on Evorel 50 Sequi took it for 6 months, felt great in the estrogen patch but had extremely sore breasts on the estrogen/progesterone patch.
My GP and meno specialist all recommended the Mirena, which I've now had for 10 months. The problem is that I can't seem to find the right dose of estrogen patch, I've had Estradot 50, wasn't enough to control symptoms, went up to 75 and although they control symptoms they make me feel very bloated, heavy and breasts seem to swell, now trying a 25 plus a 37.5 to see if a bit less would be better but the sweats are back.

Since getting the Mirena I've put on about 1/2 a stone in weight even though I'm exercising way more than I used to and my libido has gone awol !!

Any ideas gratefully received tia

Maybe try Estrogel instead, I use that with the Mirena.
I haven't put any weight on with Mirena.

Thanks Tinkerbell, can you tell me a what is a medium dose of estrogel??
Have you needed to increase your dose at all

Unfortunately the Mirena is notorious for quashing libido and weight gain. At least that's what happened to me when I had mine - although not in all cases as evidenced by Tinkerbell, who I suspect is one of the lucky ones. Sorry I can't offer much more help except to say your issues are quite typical. Maybe it will settle down over time as the strength decreases x

I couldn't exercise due to severe VA, but because the Mirena meant I could use systemic HRT, which has massively improved the VA, I now do 30 minutes exercise five days a week, so maybe for me that has helped any weight gain.

Helen....I was on a 75 Estradot patch, I use 3 pumps of Estrogel now, to be honest I don't think I absorbed the estradiol from the patches very well.

Thanks Tinkerbell, I might suggest it to my GP,she did say we could try the gel if the patches didn't help, but it's only since the Mirena. On the original Evorel I felt great for the first 2 weeks it was only the second 2 that I had problems due to the northisterone .
sometimes I think I'm absorbing it but only when I'm on the 75, anything less and I get my symptoms back.
I am exercising a lot, spinning, gym 4/5 times a week but have gained the weight and I don't think it's muscle 🙄 so back to the drawing board I think.

Thanks perinowpost, I suspect it's any type of progesterone that I'm sensitive too, I once took the pill to alleviate heavy periods in my 20's for about 4 months and didn't have a period after I stopped taking it for 10 months. I haven't taken any hormones since until I started HRT x
