Hrt+supplements
« on: February 06, 2019, 12:11:19 PM »

I was wondering if anyone can tell me can you take things like menopace or Redclover along side hrt. I can only take a low dose hrt and I'm still getting night sweats which are waking me several times and leaving me exhausted. Any advice appreciated thanx.

H Donna Paul,

Maybe call your GP and ask the receptionist to ask them, then you would feel reassured. What HRT are you taking?

I can only take low dose as hrt gives me migraine heads if try higher dose and consultant worried about me having a stroke. I take 1 pump of oestrogel everyday and have to take norethisterone 2.5 every day as well. Not ideal but my body can't cope with hormonal changes if I take just progesterone for 14days and stop. Hence wondering if I can top up with alternatives.

Hi there. There appears to be some conflicting information about the benefits of phytooestrogens because they can act as "endocrine disruptors" from what I've read so may affect how well the oestrogen that you are taking works - by binding to receptors. There appear to be pros and cons as with all things. It looks like it is very complex and I dont have time at the moment to read in depth! However on that basis I would tend not to take them (phytooestrogens) at the same time as HRT but yes I would seek advice as the latest information may be helpful if your doc is up to speed.

Very interesting Hurdity,

I took flax seeds last night and I was sooo hot, wonder if they effected my HRT, they have estrogen receptors I believe.
