I've looked through the patient information leaflet but can't find anything about the side effect I'm getting which is as follows.

Whether I take it orally or vaginally (and it's been vaginally for the last month and a bit), within 5-10minutes  I feel cold (especially hands and feet) and shiver. Kept on a pair of bed socks last night for a while, which did help the feet a bit. I would guess this lasts for 30-45mins. Does anyone else experience this?  I'm on 100mg and taking it everyday and other than this odd effect I'm doing OK on it I think.

I've also read that some gynaecologists are OKing 100mg vaginally on alternate days if post meno (as long as the does of oestrogen is not high).  Is anybody on this regime?

Sorry snooze never had that side effect with Utrogestan. I was taking it vaginally continuous but can't because it is too much for me. I don't think it is widely prescribed as every other day 100mg although I have read about people taking it that way but Hurdity is the lady who would know all that.  Maybe she will be along soon.  I take 200mg vaginally for 10 days in a cycle but it has never affected me that way so I cant help on that particular side effect.

I take Utrogestan vaginally (100mg) every other night. Only been 3 months but so far so good. Am on 4 pumps of oestrogel as per Louise newson. A bit of spotting at first. Then been fine since. Fingers crossed. Haven't experienced the cold. Hope that helps.

That's interesting, were you on Utrogestan every day previously, or did you start on alternate days?  I'm on Sandrena 1mg/day, which I think is less than 4 pumps of Oestrogel, so I'll have a chat with my GP as to whether taking the Utrogestan vaginally every night is giving me a higher dose than I need.  She's pretty good on HRT but she may refer me back to my Gynaecologist as this regieme is pretty new.

I also started on Utrogestan every other night vaginally.  Also a patient of Dr Louise's.  I was only using 2 or 3 pumps of gel at the time.  I was great at first.  Felt good.  Relaxed. But then I just started to bleed and bleed.  On instruction I increased to every night the same vaginal route.  But it can't control the bleeding for me.  I bleed all the time.  I'm having a Mirena fitted in a couple of weeks.  I hope that controls it.

I also feel drugged and doped on nightly Utrogestan some of the time.
