Femoston conti Help!
« on: December 22, 2018, 10:40:10 AM »

This is my second attempt at HRT. Started last January on Elleste combo and lasted a month as I couldn't cope with the progesterone. I just came off and put up with the symptoms- mainly hot flushes which did settle down. However I've noticed all the symptoms have ramped up with flushes anxiety low mood etc etc - they came and went and came and went until they were so bad I couldn't cope and decided to try again. Having researched it looked like Femoston had a kinder progesterone so I thought I would give it a go. Two weeks in and I'm feeling rubbish. Don't want to give up again but I'm feeling so low and can't see the point of taking them if they make me feel like this. At least before I had good days and bad. At the moment I only seem to have bad? Sorry it's a long post- I just need any comments to give me confidence to continue. With Christmas round the corner I just don't want to be in this constant low mood and wonder whether I should just let nature take its course? Anyone else been through it please?

Hi Louise01. Sorry you're feeling rubbish at the moment.  From my own experience I would say to try to give it a bit longer if you possibly can.  I know it's hard, especially at this time of year when there's so much going on. I was in the same position last Christmas 😞 If your oestrogen levels are low due to not taking anything for a while, it will take a while for levels to build up again.  They say you should give it 3 months, although I know this is easier said than done😏

Wishing you well.

Thank you for your response; it's so difficult to know what to do for the best and always helps to hear that someone else has been through it. Did you find your weight settled- I'm very conscious and work hard to try and stay in shape and I've just weighed myself and gained 6lbs in 2 weeks- this is not helping my resolve to keep taking the pills!😱 worries where it will all end up taking me!

Hi Louise01
I'm on femoston conti, and at first my weight fluctuated, thought oh no, and made me panic for a bit, and often thought
I'm gonna end up like 10 ton Tessie, at this rate, but it stabilised, and now I'm the same as I always have been my whole life. So hopefully it'll be the same for you.
It does take a bit for your levels to get up, but you'll soon start to feel better as each day goes on.

All the best,

Jd xx

Hi Louise.  I haven't had any problems with weight gain.  In fact I've lost weight over the last year because I've had some pretty awful stomach issues.  We are all different and all suffer with different side effects from taking hrt.  I'm lucky because I appear to have found a regime that works fairly well with minimum side effects.  It's taken a long time and patience and at times I've thought I'd never find something that works for me.  I would say try to stick with your current regime for a little longer.  If you find you are still feeling rubbish after a couple of months, then I would definitely get back to your gp/gynae to try something different.

Good luck and keep us posted.
