Ovestin vagina cream advice please
« on: December 18, 2018, 01:46:52 PM »

Hi Ladies :)

I havent been on here posting for a while, i need some advice regarding Ovestin vagina cream. My gp prescribed the cream for my issues down below and i dont really want to put it right up there if you know what i mean , is it ok to just use around vagina areas for my irritation? Also how much do i use?  i know the leaflet says to fill the applicator but as i only want to use around my bits then is it the same , roughly how much would i use??

Much appreciated for any advice for this cream as i havent used any hrt before and im a bit afraid to be honest . Just need some reasurance to be honest.

I use Vagifem but also use Ovestin on outside bits so perfectly okay to use it like that, I probably use about a small pea size amount.

You will also get less irritation outside if you use it internally as well, so personally I would use it every day for two weeks, safe to use on outside bits at the same time as well.

Hi Tinkerbell
Thanks for your reply, im just a worrier ,i hate taking any new meds in case of side affects. I was useing Yes vag moisterizer and i get on fine with that, but as Ovestin is estrogen im just a bit apprehensive. But i do need to sort out my issues down there as its affecting my relationship , as the razor blade feeling at entrance to vag is unbearable so not been able to have sex with  partner >:(
The yes is ok to keep a bit moist but thats about it really.

The applicator gives a measured amount.  So maybe draw some into it so that you have the correct amount, push that onto your finger and insert.  Laying down of course ;-)

It's a very safe treatment, even if you use it every day it's only equivalent to two systemic HRT tablets a year, honestly just use it, I have never had any side effects, only benefits and your sex life will definitely improve!
The trouble with moisturisers is they do nothing to improve the lining of the vagina you need estrogen for that.

If you have those razor blade feelings and painful sex then you need to use it internally. I understand your apprehension, especially when you read those leaflets!  I had all those symptoms and it's like you're trapped. Pain and no sex or deciding to use something you're scared of.  But we all need some quality of life. You can always ask questions on here.

It's advised by professor Stud (big menopause professional) to use your finger to insert it around the entrance and externally, ideally if possible to the front wall of your vagina (as the bladder is next to that area)
He says not to insert it all the way up. By inserting it lower down the external areas will benefit were as really high up and the external areas get left out.
But if your going to apply it externally anyway I suppose the interior location doesn't matter

I’ve been using Estriol cream since Early July and it has sorted me out down below.  I wasn’t able to ride my Motorcycle without getting very uncomfortable. Sharp razor stabbing inside and constant dry feeling too. Very little normal ‘juices’ either.
I’ve increased my patch to 75mg now and have Mirena in for 18 months now.
I fill the syringe and pop it up. I put a little in the outside if irritated and try to use some YES VM, especially if I’m planning nookie

Overall so much better, though I do notice I feel more irritated again few days before i have what amounts to a period...light beige spotting really.
Days are increasing now months between ‘periods’
Please do try the cream inside with the applicator as there is no point being so miserably uncomfortable xx
