I've been to Malta and we had a good holiday.  It was stonking hot but we did go in July.  Valetta is very beautiful.  it's not somewhere I would rush to go back to but my OH says he would like to go back.  We went when they still had the really old buses but I believe they've all gone now.  we also went over to Gozo.

That's interesting.  We avoid July and August because of the heat and too many kids around.

I'm a history buff so would love to see all the archaeology.

Okay, so we are off to Bruges tomorrow and were booked of the 9.25am ferry from Dover.  The weather forecast is for very strong winds and the wind speed is due to be 51 miles per hour when we sail.

I have re-booked on the Shuttle. ;D

Hi SG,

How was Bruges?  I'm off there this Friday, can't wait! any tips?

Bruges was lovely, as always, except for the wind.

Have you been before?  If not I would recommend the Chocolate museum and the Brewery Tour (Halve Mann Brewery), also the the boat trips.  There are lots of churches and Museums and lots of bars, if you like beer.  I don't like British beer much, but I love Belgium beer.  The two best bars are Brugs Beertje and Garre.  Garre is difficult to find as it is up a tiny alley so check directions first.

If you are into chocolate the shops can be very expensive so I always get my chocolate fix at the Chocolate Museum shop.  You don't have to pay for the visit to go in the shop.

Avoid restaurants in the main squares as the are expensive and not very good.

If there is anything else just ask.  I know some good car parks as well, if you need one.

Last night DH suggested using our camper van more this year but I kind of muttered that I no longer like walking to/from the shower block  :-\ ......

Hi Shadeyglade

No, I've never been before.

Thanks for the tip about the chocolate , I have two daughters and a Mum with expectations, hahaha. We will definitely be doing the brewery tour and chocolate museum.

We are going on the Eurostar, so we won't be driving at all. It's tricky to know what to pack,. I am assuming the weather will be like here.  I suppose layers will cover most eventualities.

Apart from frites ( that's a given, haha) , I want to try the local delicacies

I would quite like to see the lacemaking, but not sure my man will be up for that !
