Femseven sequin no bleed
« on: November 27, 2018, 08:53:23 PM »

Hiya. I'm confused. I had both ovaries and tubes removed but not my uterus. I am on femseven sequi patches and the leaflet says there should be a bleed. But I haven't had one. Just wondering what happens to the lining if it is being thinned by the progesterone phase shouldn't I then bleed as the leaflet says. I'm thinking maybe I'm not absorbing and therefore the lining isn't thinning which I believe is not a good situation I.e. the oestrogen isn't being opposed. Dear oh dear this is a complicated business!!.wondered if anyone has any experience advice.
Best wishes to all.

Hi TC how long have you been on the patches? It took me about 7 weeks to have the 1st bleed on femseven sequi. Got regular after 3 months x

Hi. Thanks for your reply.I've been on them 10 weeks.i have been struggling with them coming off. The phase 2 seem to stick better than the phase 1. I've gone through so many cos when one falls off I just stick a new one on.

It took me a few weeks to get them to stick.  Have cracked it now... warm your skin with a hairdryer (but don`t burn yourself like I almost did!). Then while it is cooling a bit warm the patch in your hand. Stick patch and press as hard as you can for at least a minute. On hip under knickers (had to get bigger knickers  :( ) is my ideal place. They now last a week, I even had a bath on Sunday and it`s still on!

Hi Tc - if you weren't absorbing then this would apply equally to the oestrogen and progestogen in the patch. On cyclical HRT the progestogen causes structural changes to the womb lining that has been built up by the oestrogen and then when you stop the progestogen the lining is shed. The fact that it hasn't shed means it hasn't built up so no need to worry. A small proportion of women don't bleed on sequential HRT anyway.

Thank you. Hurdity. I'm wondering if I'm not absorbing enough of the patches or if they are just not strong enough. My symptoms aren't under control and maybe lack of the oestrogen means the lining hasn't built up. Anyways I'm off to the gynae for follow up on 7th Dec so at least now I can go armed with some knowledge and questions. I'm having blood tests before so I guess they will reveal my levels.
Take care and thanks.
