Too much or too little oestrogen?
« on: November 13, 2018, 06:22:50 PM »

Hi ladies.  Please may I have your advice? Do you think that tiredness, sore eyes and palpitations would be due to too little oestrogen, too much oestrogen or just that the particular hrt is not right for me?

Thank you.

Rosies - what HRT are you on and at what dosage. I got more palpations and fatigue when on conti HRT - so it could be the progesterone giving the problems.

Thanks ladies.

DG - I'm on Estradot 50mg and due to start the Utrogestan tomorrow so only on the oestrogen at the moment.  God knows how tired I'll feel once I add the prog in. Feeling really low today 😞

Tiredness would not be a symptom of to much oestrogen and on Estradot 50 mcg you are not likely to be getting too much. Palpitations are also a sign of low oestrogen (but also things like too much caffeine or alcohol!).

I'm in my mid 60's too and I get very tired - especially in the mornings despite being on a decent level of oestrogen and testosterone too. I think there are other factors at play as we age - in my case I've no idea - bit something is amiss with my cortisol awakening response (it doesn't happen).

If you are tired during the day then this could be due to all sorts of things - low testosterone, low oestrogen, sub-optimal thyroid function. low iron, some vitamins, insufficient exercise, inadequate quality sleep, excess weight etc...

Like you I dread the progesterone phase due to increased tiredness - hence the long cycle! Hope you cope with it OK!

Thanks Hurdity. I was due to change my patch today so have added another quarter to see if that helps. I've had blood tests recently and thyroid, iron etc was all ok. He did say at the time that my oestrogen was a bit low so I hope by increasing a little I will buck up a bit. I don't have much caffeine or alcohol and I'm not overweight, probably a bit under to be honest. I swim and do yoga so try to do the right things to help myself 😊. Think I've had an off day today and feeling a bit sorry for myself!

Thanks again for your advice.
