Hi ladies
After 15 years of the most horrendous periods I'm going in for an Ablation
I've tried the Mirena had to take it out didn't get on with it
On HRT now and peri - last natural period was August.
Anyone who's had this, how it went and how you are now would love to hear about it!
My gynae was very nice I'm going for ultrasound and vaginal scan on Monday to check for fibroids and womb thickness he said this is the first step and we will try and avoid the hysterectomy if possible x

I have no experience of this so cannot help unfortunately. However, as someone who also had to have the Mirena removed (didn't get on with it either) and is progesterone intolerant I watch your post with interest x

Had my scans on Monday and I've got a fibroid (had one before which was removed) so that's more than likely not helping.
My womb thickness is 6, Ovaries fine
no other concerns
So just waiting for the op date now x

Does you mean that the fibroid will be removed or that you have opted for hysterectomy if the latter then WHOA!  Discuss with the consultant B4 he gets at you about HRT requirements post surgery.  It seems the habit for Consultants to refer back to the GP who probably knows nowt about HRT!

I'm having an Ablation not hysterectomy - and I'm on HRT I'll just switch the utrogestan to daily and yes the fibroid will be removed along with the womb lining

PHEW!  thought you meant the hysterectomy was being offered.

Hello I had an ablation 4 years ago for heavy clotty flooding never ending periods!  Was the best thing I could have done.  Went in bleeding heavily had it done and went home with just a watery discharge (hardly anything only liner needed) not in any pain...bit of cramping and bloating took couple of paracetamol. Never really bled again...little bit of spotting when my period would have been due which got less frequent as menopause approached. (Bit of lining is sometimes left) I'm 49 now and am on HRT ...still need prog incase any lining is still there or it can grow back.  For me it was and is great...I don't bleed on HRT either x

Hi there, I had an ablation many years ago & was ok ,couldn't wait for my tea & toast afterward 😊it worked for a few months but unfortunately my fibroids were too big & had eventually had to have a partial hysterectomy but just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean to say it won't for you

Thank you 🙏🏻 my consultant said the same try this as a first step as hysterectomy is the last thing he would advise
I'll let you know how it goes not got a date yet x

Hi. I had an ablation 6 years ago due to fibroids and heavy periods (couldn’t leave the house). It worked brilliantly. I still have periods but they are very light and could just use a panty liner. Don’t remember having any pain or anything after. I know I didn’t need to take the Co-codamol they gave me.

I’m now in peri and have a small fibroid back. It’s not causing any probs at the moment. Periods are occasionally heavier (for me) but no where near what I had before.

Honestly don’t regret having it done at all - quite the opposite.

Had an endometrial ablation over 8 years ago. Really helped with extremely heavy bleeding.  Nothing for years. The problem with it is I have no Idea if I’m peri or menopausal and have many symptoms but very unsure
