Just changed from Everol Sequi patches to Elleste Duet 1mg
« on: October 18, 2018, 07:57:42 PM »

Hi, im new to this so please bare with me! Just changed hrt. I was on the patch for about 2 years  with not too many problems, but the last 3 months had periods every 1 - 2 weeks. So went to GP 2 weeks ago and she prescribed Elleste Duet 1mg,  started these 2 weeks ago, the day after my last patch and have bled continuously, boobs are really sore and lower back is agony, feel really swollen belly and legs. Not sure whether to just give up and try and get through with nothing.....

Hi DawnyR

Welcome 😁

Have you thought about oestrogen patches with a separate progesterone?

It seems as though your cycle has been pushing past your hrt and the tablets, which are metabolised differently in your body to patches, are throwing you into further disarray.

If you separate the hormones, eg oestrogen patch and combine it with a Progestogen such as a pill, pessary or the Mirena coil it's easier to tailor your hrt if you know what I mean?

Anyway, good luck with it all xx

I agree with Northarm. I would stop the Elleste patches and return to the Everol oestrogen only patches as you know you don't get these side effects with them, and perhaps try utrogestan, provera or mirena for the progesterone. Was Everol a sequi or conti regime? If you're in peri rather than meno the body has a trick of putting a spanner in the works... I started on everol sequi in peri and have had 2 bleeds a month and bleeding when I started the conti patches instead of when they finished. I think sometimes your body can get out of sync with the patches.

Hi NorthArm and Sheila99,
Thanks to you both for the advise, ive got an app at drs on Wednesday,  so im gonna ask my dr about doing this, anything is worth  a try, it was sequi patches, and elleste duet tablets, but what you say makes sense.
I'll let you know how it goes, surely i cant bleed anymore...
