Bleeding while on Femeston Conti & Ellestte Solo
« on: October 17, 2018, 08:01:49 AM »

HI girls,

I've switched from Femeston 2/10 mg to Femeston Conti & Ellesette Solo mainly to switch because I don't want to experience the withdrawal bleed each month anymore.  I'm on the second month of it and I've had two withdrawal bleeds already.   Anyone else experience this?  I'd have hoped by the second pack I'd be finished with bleeds.

Too much oestrogen and not enough progesterone I'm afraid. It is also common to get bleeding for the first few months on any conti regime.  If you want more oestrogen with less progesterone side effects and less chance of bleeding,  then consider having a Mirena fitted. DG x

Hi DG,

I had been informed on here by a member because I was changing from Femeston 2/10 mg to Femeston 1/5 and my concern of not having enough oestrogen in the conti to supplement it with 1mg of oestrogen thus I requested my Doctor to write a script out for extra oestrogen and be prescribed Elleste Solo 1 mg.

So from your reply I'm understanding by upping the oestrogen and now the reduced progesterone, I'm having bleeds.  Other than the mirena, would there by anything else you can suggest?  Bearing in mind the progesterone in Femeston suits me.

Hi Ladyunlaoised
This is my problem too.
I'm on femoston conti, and 1mg/5mg just wasn't enough, so I upped my dose to 1.1/2mg which gives me 7.5mg of the progesterone. So I get a prescription for the 1mg, and the 0.5mg, femoston too.
I also add 1mg Sandrena gel.
This seems to be working well for me now.
So, everyday, I take 1.1/2mg/7.5mg femoston conti, plus 1mg Sandrena gel.
I'm much, much, better on this regime, and I've had no bleeding up to yet anyway....

I did try the Sandrena and Utrogestan, but the Utrogestan didn't like me, so I've gone back to the femoston conti.

Jolly doll - I didn't think Dydrogesterone was available on its own here in the UK? Maybe that's changed? OR perhaps youre getting a different progesterone alongside the Femoston conti?
It is important to have the right balance of progesterone to prevent the womb lining from building up and causing erratic bleeding. DG x

Hi Dancinggirl.
No, I meant I get my progesterone in the femoston conti.
I take 1.1/2mg and that gives me 7.5mg of progesterone.
If I up it to two tablets (2mg/10mg) I get horrible side effects, so 1.1/2 mg/7.5mg, is enough for me.
Along with the Sandrena gel.

Clear as mud isn't it?

I've always been complicated......lol  ;D ;D
